Finn’s review of Lord of the Night (Night Slayer, Book 4) by Robin T. Popp
Paranormal romance released by Grand Central Publishing 1 Dec 07
This Night Slayer book is about Kacie and Erik, a vampire slayer and the vampire who trained her. Kacie did not know that Erik was a vampire while he was training her and she has come to resent him. Kacie’s parents were killed by vampires and Erik vowed to her dying father that he would protect her.
Well Kacie comes back to town after a 3 year absence and gets blamed for killing Sedrick, Erik’s friend and Michael’s brother. Michael has vowed to kill Sedrick’s killer and now Erik must protect Kacie from his friend for over 400 years. Problem is that Kacie slowly loses her resentment of Erik and they fall in love.
The story is filled with a lot of fleeing from vampires bent on revenge and chupacabras. Yep, even chupacabras (and here I thought they were part of Hispanic lore not English)?!
I read romance novels for the story and for the sex. When a book doesn’t have a sex scene until page 226 out of 309 it doesn’t rate very well with me, and when it only has 1, well I tend to not look for that author again.
Lord of the Night was an action-adventure book, but Popp needs to add a little more spice.
Grade: C+
