Book CoverSandy M’s review of Demon’s Kiss by Maggie Shayne
Paranormal romance published by MIRA (Harlequin) 1 Dec 07

Seth Connor’s knows a beautiful woman with red hair and soulful eyes is his destiny. He’s known that all his life. When Seth makes it through his transition, he follows Reaper on his journey to learn about vampiric life, all the while feeling he is making his way closer and closer to his mystery lady.  Things begin to fall into place for Seth when he finally meets Vixen, a vampire who is hiding a secret that keeps her timid and away from everyone except Seth.

At first I thought this book was going to be hard to follow – there seemed to be a new character introduced each chapter. Even with the crowd, Shayne does a great job of keeping their individual stories straight and concise. Then, once the team are all together and on the move toward their destination, I didn’t have a problem following the storyline.

There are plenty of surprises to keep you guessing and off-balance. If you love to hate villains, there are a couple in this book who will have you spewing venomous sweet nothings right from the beginning.

Blurb:

Even by vampire standards, Reaper is a loner, and his current mission to destroy a gang of rogue bloodsuckers is definitely a one-vamp job. Then fate takes a hand, and before he knows it, he’s surrounded by a ragtag crew of misfit helpers: the newbie, the princess, the shape-shifter and the human healer.

Seth is new to immortality, but he’s sharp and strong—and he’ll risk anything for the rogues’ strange female captive, a secretive creature he doesn’t understand but feels compelled to save.

Vixen is confused by the emotions that swirl through her at the sight of her impulsive hero. She only hopes the brutal Gregor and his bloodthirsty renegades will leave her alive long enough to explore them.

Or will Reaper himself be the one to destroy them all?
