REVIEW: Things We Hide from the Light by Lucy Score

Sandy M’s review of Things We Hide from the Light (Knockemout, Book 2) by Lucy Score
Contemporary Romance published by That’s What She Said Publishing 21 Feb 23

I was happy to learn that we are getting more stories about folks from Knockemout. Almost as much as I loved his brother’s grumpiness in Things We Never Got Over, I love Nash’s willingness to protect and serve and his eventual eagerness and need to live the life he never thought he wanted – all thanks to another kick-ass heroine, Lina, who also doesn’t want anything to do with relationships. These two are fun, even though there are moments when you’d like to sit them down for a good open-your damned-eyes talk!

REVIEW: The Jeweler of Stolen Dreams by M.J. Rose

Veena’s review of The Jeweler of Stolen Dreams by M.J. Rose
Romantic Suspense published by Blue Box Press 07 Feb 23

During the Nazi occupation of France, many French people joined the resistance. This is a story of two intrepid women who hid in plain sight and helped hundreds of Jewish families escape the persecution and death that awaited them at Nazi hands.  Skillfully blending the past and the present, Ms. Rose takes readers on a spine-tingling journey of murder and revenge. Superb story telling.

REVIEW: Jasper Vale by Devney Perry

Sandy M’s review of Jasper Vale (Edens, Book 4) by Devney Perry

It’s always sad for a romance reader when a favorite series nears its end. This is the fourth book in the Eden family series, with one more book after that to go. Saying goodbye to this family is going to be difficult. The only silver lining is Devney Perry’s fans know whatever flows from her pen next will be worth a bit of sadness now while waiting for excitement later on.

REVIEW: Recovery Road by Christine Feehan

Veena’s review of Recovery Road (Torpedo Ink, Book 8) by Christine Feehan
Contemporary Romance published by Berkley 24 Jan 23

This series holds an unwilling fascination for me. Every book I read I tell myself is the last, but then I come back for more because, despite the darkness, I’m now vested in the characters. Given the back story of group, darkness is a given, and yet this book is perhaps one of the best in the series as far as the story line: the gutsy heroine who will challenge all comers and a man who claws himself out of his darkness to embrace the light and love to the bottom of his heart.

REVIEW: The Minuscule Mansion of Myra Malone by Audrey Burges

Product Image Stevie‘s review of The Minuscule Mansion of Myra Malone by Audrey Burges
Contemporary Magical Realism published by Berkley 24 Jan 23

I have a long-standing love for dollhouses and miniature dioramas, so this book looked very much like something I would enjoy reading. Myra Malone inherited a dollhouse and furnishings (but no dolls) from her grandfather’s second wife, who died in a car crash when Myra was five. Badly injured in the same accident, Myra has hardly left the cabin in which she lives with her mother since leaving the hospital six months later, almost thirty years ago. There are magical aspects to the dollhouse: accessories, items of furniture, and even whole rooms appear and disappear without warning; music plays from the house, especially at night. Myra feels as if the house is telling her what it wants. When Myra’s mother confesses that their cabin is about to be repossessed due to her overspending on the high-end fashion items she hoards, Myra’s saved income from freelance writing isn’t going to be enough to save them. However, Myra’s best friend, Gwen, suggests they hold a series of competitions for followers of Myra’s blog, with the main prize a chance for the winner to see the house for themselves. Enter Alex…

REVIEW: The Reluctant Countess by Eloisa James

Veena’s review of The Reluctant Countess (Would-Be Wallflowers, Book 2) by Eloisa James
Historical Romance published by Avon 29 Nov 22

The last thing the very proper Earl of Lilford needs in his life is to be associated with the so-very-unproper Lady Yasmin, and yet he gives in to temptation night after night by dancing the first waltz of the evening with her. It’s definitely against his and his family’s best interests to take that relationship any further, but the heart wants what the heart wants.
