Ash’s review of Tiger Magic (Shifters Unbound Series, Book 5) by Jennifer Ashley
Paranormal Romance released by Berkley 04 Jun 13
I am sad to say I was a bit disappointed in this book. I really loved the previous one in the series, so I had high hopes.
I am not sure exactly why it was I don’t like this story. I have been trying to figure it out and I think the biggest thing is Carly. I just don’t care for her. Nothing about her stands out to me and I don’t feel like I really know who she is. I couldn’t even describe her now if I was asked to, not physically and certainly not personality-wise. I never got the connection between them.
I love Tiger and I really wanted him to have an amazing heroine. Tiger knows she is his mate as soon as he sees her, but that is as far as it gets. I don’t get why he ends up loving her. I never felt them building a relationship with each other. Mate bonds have always bothered me a bit, but a really great author can make me forget that. I know Jennifer Ashley can do that, but she didn’t here, not for me.
Another thing is I feel the book is too short. So many things could have been…just more. I want to know more about Tiger’s past, and I definitely want to know more about Walker. The small scenes between Walker and Rebecca are more interesting to me than the rest of the book. I feel like it just goes from one thing to another with little detail in between.
I just don’t care as much as I wanted to, and I actually put the book down for a few days and read something else. It won’t stop me from reading the next book, however. I am actually looking forward to it and I still consider this a favorite series of mine.
