Veena’s review of A Cowboy Kind of Love (Heart of Texas, Book 6)  by Donna Grant
Contemporary Western Romance published by St. Martins Paperbacks 27 Apr 21

Jace and Taryn seemed to have it all, and then one day she just disappeared from his life. She’s the one for him, but he’s haunted by memories and he swears he can smell her fragrance on the air. His loneliness is even more haunting as his friends find their loves and settle down into their happily ever after around him. He is contemplating moving away when suddenly she’s back in town. Is this a second chance at love for Jace?

Even as he’s haunted by questions about the what, where, and why, Jace cannot stay away from Taryn when she once again enters his life. Taryn, however, has tremendous baggage and she’s fighting the clock and an insurmountable task to keep her sister safe from the monsters who have her. Ms. Grant leads readers into an intricate story of betrayal and crime with enough twists and turns to keep readers’ brains swimming.

Jace and his friends are not the same people whom Taryn left behind five or more years ago.  They’re blooded and have successfully fought many battles together. They offer their collective brawn and intelligence to help Taryn break free of the maze she’s stuck in. Fast paced and full of surprises, the story and the group come together to do what they do best and protect the innocent and punish the guilty.

A nice chapter in this series, but the author has left a few hooks that I can see becoming hot and turning into stories in the future. Can’t wait.

Grade: B
