Veena’s review of Leopard’s Wrath (Leopard, Book 12) by Christine Feehan
Paranormal Romance published by Berkley 05 Nov 19
Mitya is the product of a brutal upbringing in the Russian lairs, where the male leopards destroy possible mates to sustain the brutality that makes them who they are. Ania is brought up in the bosom of a loving family, given every opportunity to express her individuality, to think and act for herself. From their first meeting, Mitya acts uncharacteristically when he ignores his bodyguards and his prime operative in indulging in the women who calms his leopard. Yet, when push comes to shove, he’s a very dominant male leopard who can’t fight his nature in controlling his wayward mate, some of which is not entirely pleasant to read. There are some good bones to this story, given that both Mitya and Ania are under what might be converging threads. While the readers who have been following this series know that Mitya is under threat from his father and uncles, who will do all they can to eliminate him and his cousins, there is a mystery about who threatens Ania and has systematically been killing members of her family.
As it turns out, the threat might also be likely to pull in the pseudo-criminal shifter coalition that Drake Donovan has formed. Between Mitya’s cousins and their spouses and the rest of the members of the coalition and their wives, we get to catch up on a lot of characters from the series, which is nice. Clearly the women befriend Ania and provide her with feminine friendships for the first time in her life and definitely have her back.
Ms. Feehan is known for her hot, erotic writing, and this series is hotter than most, given the nature of the emerging female leopard in most of her characters and the need for constant sex for the characters. This story might be hotter on the erotica and lighter on the story, which might be an issue for some readers.
I’m not ready to throw in the towel in this series yet, so I’d like to see what comes next.
