Book CoverVeena’s review of Wrath Of The Goddess (Goddess With A Blade, Book 5) by Lauren Dane
Urban Fantasy published by Carina Press 10 Jun 19

There are many exciting moments in this chapter of Rowan’s story with a host of new characters that we will doubtless see in the future.  The action has shifted from Europe to North America, both Rowan’s and Clive’s home turf. With their action-packed agenda, Rowan and Clive have to set up domestic arrangements as well. Quite a revelation! This is one series that must be read in order.  The previous book concluded in the horrific murder of Rowan’s long-time associate in the midst of her marriage to Clive. Burning with vengeance and emotionally overwrought at her inability to keep one of her protected safe, Rowan hits the trail right away.  Given that both she and Clive are back on their respective home turf, they also have to sort through their relationship mores.

Since it seems a lot of dark magic is at play and Rowan’s friends continue to be targeted, it’s a good thing that Rowan has connections with the bluest of blue blood witches. As Rowan, Clive, and friends go on the hunt, it comes down to the one common denominator from all the earlier books.

The story comes to an abrupt end, almost as though Ms. Dane was compelled to bring it to a finish because her word count was exhausted. Overall, I felt that this is a filler book the author wrote to appease her fans who were clamoring for a chapter in Rowan’s story. Nevertheless, I will look forward to the next book to see what comes next.

Grade: C

Summary:

You can’t keep a vengeful woman down for long.

Rowan Summerwaite, elite hunter and human vessel to the goddess Brigid, has returned home to Las Vegas—and she’s mad as hell. It seems someone thought they could eliminate Rowan and everyone she holds dear.

That someone was dead wrong.

With tensions between paranormal factions at an all-time high, Rowan and her crew, along with her sexy Vampire Scion husband, Clive Stewart, have their work cut out for them. The Vampire Nation has at least one traitor in their midst, leaving them extremely vulnerable…but if it’s a war they want, Rowan’s prepared to bring the pain like never before.

Rowan knows her duty is to those she’s sworn to protect, but it seems the harder she fights, the more barriers she hits…and the more friends she loses.

With even her closest alliances in question, Rowan will have to accept that sometimes the path toward the greater good means making heartrending sacrifices along the way…
