Book CoverVeena’s review of Beyond Danger (Texas Trilogy, Book 3) by Kat Martin
Romantic Suspense published by Zebra 30 Jan 18

Ms. Martin consistently delivers on her promise of fast-paced,  adrenaline-pumping, high-octane romance.

Did Beau kill his senator father?  Evidence suggests that Beau had a bone to pick with the man, but murder? Cassidy Jones is a private investigator hired by the senator and is convinced of Beau’s innocence, despite the fact she found him standing over his father’s body holding the murder weapon.  As the two of them set out to prove Beau’s innocence, they uncover a hornet’s nest that does its best to sting them to death as well.

Beau’s friend and business partner, Lincoln Cain, and Carly Drake make a brief cameo appearance, as do other members of the private agency which has been featured in other books by Ms. Martin.  Beau and Cassidy are larger than life as they chase down clues and court danger to find out whodunit and why.

The ugliness of murder is balanced by the birth of Beau’s half sister, the reason for Beau’s anger with his father that seemed to lay the perfect false trail to cove up murder.  Things come together in a nice way, introducing us to the hero of the next book in this series as he efficiently takes care of business from the sidelines.

An absolute winner. I seem to have an insatiable appetite for Ms. Martin’s fare. Can’t wait to read the next one in the series.

Grade: A

Summary:

New York Times bestselling author Kat Martin brings page-turning suspense to a tale of secrets and passions turned deadly . . .

Texas mogul Beau Reese is furious. All six feet three obscenely wealthy, good-looking inches of him. His sixty-year-old father, Stewart, a former state senator no less, has impregnated a teenager. Barely able to contain his anger, Beau is in for another surprise. It appears that Stewart has moved an entirely different woman into the house . . .

Beau assumes that stunning Cassidy Jones is his father’s mistress. At least she’s of age. But those concerns take a sudden backseat when he finds Stewart in a pool of blood on the floor of his study—and Cassidy walks in to find Beau with his hand on the murder weapon.

The shocks just keep coming. Someone was following Stewart, and Cassidy is the detective hired to find out who and why. Now she’ll have to find his killer instead. Her gut tells her it wasn’t Beau. And Beau’s instincts tell him it wasn’t Cassidy. Determined to track down the truth, they form an uneasy alliance—one that will bring them closer to each other—closer to danger and beyond . . .
