Another good read from Jennifer Ryan. I love the one I am with, but reading keeps the falling-in-love bug alive. You will definitely fall in love with Colt and Luna’s story. This is part of the Mountain Men series, which I have not had the privilege of reading from the beginning.
Luna Hill is sticking around for her friend’s wedding. If she can’t have the guy she wants, she might as well have the job she wants. Her degree is wasting away while she’s working as a waitress. She has a job offer in another state and a week to make up her mind, when her friend and local rancher dies and leaves her the caretaker of his estate. Just before his death he encourages her to mend fences with Colt, who he is talking with when Wayne keels over.
Luna wants to do the right thing by Wayne’s family and honor his wishes at the same time. It’s a tall complicated order when they think she cheated them out of their inheritance.
The one thing Colt Kendrick wants, he can’t have. It’s all about the bro rule. You can’t have your friend’s girl, even if he has moved on. A surprise kiss years ago with Luna has left him thinking of nothing else. He watches her with the old man who dotes on her, wishing he’s the one she’s paying attention to.
When Wayne has a heart attach in front of them in the dinner, Luna and Colt try to save him, to no avail. Colt discovers the hostility toward Luna coming from Wayne’s family and knows he has to stay close to keep her safe. Through all the turmoil and threats, their relationship blossoms.
I once told my grandson-in-law that it takes a strong, confident man to cater to a woman. I was sort of wrong. It also takes love. Colt has a lot of qualities of my grandson-in-law. It’s so nice to read actions I have watched happen.
So, yes, Colt is my favorite hero of all time so far. I will definitely be checking out his brothers’ stories by Jennifer Ryan.
