The covers for this series are superb, almost more delicious than the stories themselves. If you haven’t read Glimmer, STOP. Go back and read it before starting this one, since this picks up seamlessly and continues the story almost like it’s one book split into two.
As Alice struggles to make sense of who she truly is, she’s hard pressed to separate friend from foe, especially since the author does a great job of building up the suspense. Is Alice Reed Adelaide Durand? Does Dylan Fall truly love Alice Reed or does he have a sinister motive in developing a relationship with Alice nee Adelaide? This is a love story with dark and suspenseful overtones which make it more than an average romance.
Alice Reed is on a journey of self-discovery under the tutelage of Dylan Fall. While the sex is fantastic, she still has a hard time believing that he might love and want her for herself and not because she might be Adelaide. He is definitely keeping secrets and certainly there are others in the Durand camp that have secrets and wear multiple faces such that Alice has a hard time separating friend from foe.
There is definitely something amiss. The alarm goes off in the middle of the night and doors are mysteriously left open when they shouldn’t be. All these disturbing events raise the adrenaline level, particularly as Alice struggles to separate the truth from her imagination. As she begins to regain some of her childhood memories that were lost due to head trauma she suffered as a child, her entire foundation is rocked and her belief system is challenged.
As the truth is revealed about events old and new, they will surprise and shock the reader just as much they do Alice and Dylan. Can their relationship survive who Alice is and what she wants to be?
Definitely a great read for readers who enjoy a touch of erotic romance mixed with mystery and romance.
