I have these now… well really I have had them for a month or so…. 7 comments? I am so not picking a winner from 7 comments. I am going to have to come up with a harder contests if you people are going to be lazy. Tell me why you should get an ARC π
The cover should be up soon, if not I have the coverflat, which is where the below information comes from and I will have it scanned. I am seriously computer challenged right now but that is so not a state that can last for long. I admit I hate the title but really like the cover. Keep reading for some contest information…
USA Today bestselling author Jo Goodman delivers a deliciously wicked tale of forbidden desire that knows no limits…
Olivia Cole is devastated to learn that her ne’er-do-well brother has promised her to the operator of a London gaming hall as payment of his debts. Olivia accepts her fate – even if it means that her reputation will suffer from living among rogues and gamblers. But when she meets the sexy and mysterious Griffin Wright-Jones, the Viscount of Breckenridge, Olivia has more than just her good name to worry about – for he rouses in her wanton thoughts she’s never dared entertain – until now…
Griffin wears the scars of his life on his striking face. Although he wants Olivia like no other woman before, he doesn’t force her to share his bed – a difficult task considering how beautiful she is. But with each passing night, Griffin and Olivia’s resolve weakens until finally they take their greatest gamble on one night of reckless pleasure…
From what I have heard of this book, it is going to be beyond fabulous. The next book is omfg…. and as soon as I can telll you about it…. well you will hear me squee I am sure *g*.
BUT hero, if you have forgotten… we have meet this man before. Tell us where, book title, page number and what you thought of that book and you will be entered into the first contest to win an ARC of The Price of Desire by Jo Goodman. Keep in mind this releases on Septemeber 2008! So the ARC’s are not in my happy hands yet.
So as soon as I know how many we are getting I will let you know how many contests there will be. You sooooooo want this book.
Emma met him when she went with Resdell to Beckenridge’s gaming hell. If His Kiss is wicked. He first appears on page 292.
I read this book because it was in the nominations for AAR romance of the year. It was my first Jo Goodman – I thought it was excellent and have voted for it in the AAR review of 2007, including voting for Resdell and Emma as the best couple – I really liked how straight they are with each other . I have already ordered Jo’s previous two books, and will be glomming her regularly. I can’t wait for this book to come out in September.
Yay! He gets his own book! Breckenridge is in If His Kiss Is Wicked on page 360 of the MSReader edition. I only have it in ebook format. π
I love Jo Goodman, I’ve read just about everything by her, and IHKIW proves that she can still knock them out of the ballpark. Restell is swoonworthy, Emma is a wonderful heroine and the dialogue in the book just sparkles with wit. It was one of the best books out in 2007. I always get excited when we get word of another book from her!
I was hoping she’s write more about Breckenridge, he intrigued me. He’s the owner of the gaming hell in If His Kiss is Wicked, and we meet him on Page 292, although Restell first mentions him on Page 288. My top read of the year, the best hero and I loved all that witty dialog.
Restell is the one of the best heros, ever, like to find one like him in real life. He’s kind and caring, with a sense of humor–not the wastrel he plays, helping others in the background; strong and determined, and can be just as protective as a true alpha if need be, but in a different way. So insightful when it comes to Emma–what she needs, what she wants; willing to be patient and help her overcome her fears, very protectful yet allowing her her own way, knowing she’s strong and needs to be her own person, as he watches over her carefully should he need to step in. I liked Emma very much as well, strong and independent, fighting not to let that attack take away her independence, acknowledging it and taking those step forwards despite it, not wallowing in misery.
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I’ve been waiting for 6 days for this post to go up. π
I can’t freaking wait. CAN’T WAIT!
You’re quickly climbing the list to my favoritest person evah, Sybil. lol
His story is going to be GRAND. Sez me ;). Of course while we were talking I said something about how much I do so hate such and such and she got quiet.
And was like oh, uh… well…
I was like ACK you didn’t! Did you?
Griffin appears in If His Kiss Is Wicked (p. 292), a book which was my favorite of 2007. Restell didn’t appreciate Griffin’s apparent interest in Emma when they went to Breckenridge’s, his gaming hall.
Restell and Emma were a perfect couple. Restell was strong, smart and compassionate. Emma was strong yet vulnerable, smart and courageous. I became emotionally invested in the characters as I got further into the story.
I had a feeling Griffin would appear in a later work. Glad to hear that his book is fabulous, too.
Love your site, Sybil. Thanks.
I remember reading about him and thinking “Oh Most Excellent (see I talk weird to myself sometimes – rather formal almost – as if there were two people inhabiting one body), another hero who owns a Gaming Hell. I wonder if perchance (OK – I didn’t really think perchance – that’s a little too formal – even for the both of us) how he will compare to another hero (whose name I think I don’t have to mention heh heh) who owned a Gambling Hell (before it was burned to the ground by a psyhco ex-lover)
Oooh I want the book, cause I just DO, really, really do. I am completely hopeless at articulating my wantiness, but it’s there, really it is. I adored If His Kiss Is Wicked and was stunned by the quality of the story and the writing. It was one of the most pleasant surprise reads I had last year. A lot of historicals lately have been leaving me blah, but this one perked me right up.
I am so glad to see others discovering what I’ve known for years … that Jo Goodman is a terrific writer. I’ve been a fan since 1992 and have never been disappointed in any of her books. If His Kiss is Wicked was my absolute top read from last year and is in my top 3 of all time. I like that she only releases one book a year because she puts a lot of time/effort/research into her books and it shows. What can I say? The woman’s got talent!! Oh, and I’d love to read this one early because … well, because I want to read it NOW! LOL
I have never read a book by Jo Goodman, so I would love to start with this one by winning it in this contest. I love historical romances, and this one sounds like a winner. From reading the comments here, it sounds like I should read If His Kiss is Wicked, too!
I had never read Jo Goodman until I read a review for If His Kiss is Wicked. You had such good things to say about the book that I tried it. The thing is my memory is pathetic and I would never have remembered that the hero of this new book is the owner of the gaming hell from If His Kiss is Wicked (much less that he appeared on page 292) but now that I’m reading who it is I remember the character and he was an interesting one so I’m looking forward to the story.
WOOT! sucking up helps win contests
π
I have four copies for review… well really I have more than four but I have to send one to Holly.
I didn’t read “If His Kiss Is Wicked,” but I have read many of her books including her Compass Club series, “One Forbidden Evening” and “A Season To Be Sinful.”
::dies::
why no if his kiss is wicked?
I have MUCH love for A Season to be Sinful.
Sybil said: I have MUCH love for A Season to be Sinful.
Me, too. I love that Ms. Goodman isn’t afraid to write about subjects/things that are considered “taboo”.
I would love to win an arc of this book. I just started reading Jo Goodman about two months ago. I have been trying to catch up on her backlist ever since. Lately, I have been desperately searching the internet for an excerpt of The Price of Desire. Please choose me. I am desperate to read this. It sounds fantastic. I love the way she writes her heroes. I can’t believe I just discovered this amazing author. But better late than never.
I loved If His Kiss Is Wicked and have been SO looking forward to The Price of Desire (even before I knew the new title).
I have not read a bad Jo Goodman book.
I was so hoping that she would write about Breckenridge in If his kiss is wicked. Have been a long time fan of her books.
I really should read some Goodman!
Oh, just gimme. Then I can rave too. I’ve only read one Goodman, but she took me by surprise. Had a slow steady buildup, hooked me in, then wham, couldn’t stop reading. Thanks for the chance to win!
Sybil, I’ve been so wanting to read this book ever since we first met Griffin, then you tell me back in Feb. how Grand his story is, and a few more hints after that – I just don’t think you should make me wait any longer to read it! LOL.
Jane, you really should get If His Kiss is Wicked, it is sooo good, one of the best heros ever, and not an alpha even.
Do you all know her next historical is set in….
America?
Is there an excerpt of The Price of Desire anywhere? I can’t wait to read more but I can’t find anything anywhere. Can someone please help me?!?
ooooooo the next set is going to take place in the US? yay! that should be fun!
I love reading anything from Ms. Goodman and I cant wait for this book!
xoxo
I have not read any of Ms. Goodman’s books. This book sounds good.
Ms. Goodman is bringing her books back to America?? w00t!! Awesome.
I’m going to get my hands on “If His Kiss is Wicked” as soon as possible. I think it’s time for me to meet Restell.
WOOHOO!!! I can’t wait for it. I love reading her books.
Oh my gosh, I’m a huge fan and have read 16 of Jo Goodman’s books and not the one, If His Kiss is Wicked, that the contest answer is in. Can I just beg? lol
If His Kiss Is Wicked, I’d love to win Jo’s book because I’m a fan of her’s and romantic fiction. π
Omg, I want this book so effing bad.
