REVIEW: Heart of Stone by Diana Palmer

Limecello's review of Heart of Stone by Diana Palmer
Contemporary romance published by Silhouette on 1 Sep 08
The newest installment in the seemingly endless Long, Tall, Texan series, Heart of Stone doesn't really stand out from the rest. If you've never read one of Diana Palmer's books before, I'd encourage reading one of her other books first.

Book Alert: My Prerogative by Sasha White **SEPT 2008**
August 28, 2008
Sasha White is a long time fave of mine and we kidnap her often (she likes it).
Her newest novel, My Prerogative, will hit the shelves in September. Since every time I hear the title, the song (bobby's or brits - you pick) sticks in my head FOREVER... I asked Sasha to put together a playlist for us.
It shall be grand fun! We will have our own VJ this week (omg at you if you don't know what a VJ is, think back to when MTV use to play videos). No - really - they did! Oh... you wanna know what the book is about? Read more

Wendy the Super Librarian's review of Sweetheart by Chelsea Cain
Suspense/thriller fiction hardcover released by St. Martins Minotaur 2 Sep 08
As much as I love a good romance novel, I started out my reading life as a mystery reader. While both are genre fiction, I expect different things from each of them. In romance, I want the author to make me care about the characters. I want to become emotionally invested in their lives and struggles, which makes the happily-ever-after all that much sweeter. In mystery/suspense novels, I also want the author to make me care about the characters, but I also want what I call The White-Knuckle Factor. The kind of book that is so suspenseful, so full of thrills, that I literally cannot pry the book out of my hands. Chelsea Cain has made this her stock in trade, and this second book in her Gretchen Lowell series is a runaway freight train. Read more

Magazine layout artist Kira Weston knows all about frustration. She wasted three years loving Ethan Roarke, a man who played her body like a fine instrument—but wouldn't let her anywhere near his heart.
She doesn't believe for a second that Ethan needs her to pretend they've reunited in order to deflect his boss's carnal advances. Once Kira realizes he thinks she's dating a gigolo, however, the urge to teach him a lesson is more than she can resist.
She only meant to torment him with seduction without fruition, but suddenly revenge is the last thing on her mind. This could be the one chance she long dreamed of when they were together—to finally break down Ethan's emotional walls.
Or get over him once and for all.

The ever delightful avid reader, Keishon, has had some tres interesting posts up lately. I am sure you already do but if you don't... go check her out! I started to respond to her post on the Amazon Vine Program and in my normal fashion wrote a rambly book.
So I decided to bring it on home...

A New Look for a Superhero
July 14, 2008
Did you notice Karma Girl has a new cover? Discussion anyone? Is it better or worse than the first one? I've got to say I'm not a fan of the real person on the cover rather than the sort of comic book look of the first one. Of course the new cover is due to the fact that Karma Girl and Hot Mama are getting reissued in mass market in anticipation of the next book in the series, Jinx, being released in September.
BOOK ALERT: Double Enchantment by Kathryne Kennedy **Sept 2008**
May 23, 2008
Double Enchantment (Relics of Merlin, Book 2) by Kathryne Kennedy
"This is Kathryne's second book in the Relics of Merlin series, and just like Enchanting the Lady, it delivers a Victorian world full of magic. Author Erin Grady summed it up best with: 'The imagination of J. K. Rowling and the romance of Julie Garwood.' I just love the premise of this book, not to mention the shape-shifting stallion of a hero." - Leah Hultenschmidt, Dorchester Editor Extraordinaire

May 13, 2008
The publishing industry has never heard the adage, "The shortest distance between two points is a straight line."
You ever wonder what an author has to do to get from raw, unedited text to a finished product? What changes do their creations go thru? Do they have to give up really good stuff to make it work?
I'm happy you asked! We have an example of what Lisa Kleypas went thru to get from the raw, unedited Seduce Me at Sunrise (St. Martin's releases it 30 Sep 08) excerpt we posted last October to what you see below - the finished product. The process is actually quite fascinating...
