So I was definitely going to post a review this week. In fact, my goal was to post two. Unfortunately I’ve had the week from hell.
Ok, it wasn’t from hell, but it was a bad week.
It’s the end of the first six weeks, and I disturbs me how many of my students are failing. Badly failing. Failing like this grade has seriously jeopardized their hope in passing for the rest of the year. Yep, the first six weeks grade is important and getting a 25, or even, yep, an 8 pretty much guarantees you’re going to be taking my class over again.
And then Wednesday during tutoring after school, while I was there to help those students get the last bit of work in so that they could pass, one of the little dears steals my iPod.
I know, it’s the risk I take bringing it to school. Yes, I know who took it. Yes, the child lied to my face about taking it and no I haven’t gotten it back. And yes, the dear is still lying about it even though he was seen by another student. And questioned and searched by the principal.
What is it with kids today?
I think what bothers me most is this is another in a long list of things that makes me loose even more faith in humanity, as much as teenagers can be called humanity.
So I’ve decided to instead spend my weekend not thinking about school (though there is some house cleaning and laundry in order. . .) using that wonderful distraction that I have: reading. On my plate are Scandal’s Daughter, Seduction is Forever, The Education of Mrs. Brimley, and hopefully I can start on Hot Mama (I’m so excited about this one, Karma Girl was great, but why Amazon doesn’t have a cover up for it yet, I have no idea). And post of a multitude of reviews and make Sybil happy this week.
Poor baby… See all the more reason to change schools ;). Sucks about the IPod.
OMG!!!!! I can’t believe that happened to you. That’s just awful. And for the kid to lie about it — where is his/her parents and what are they teaching the child??!!! What grade/subject do you teach?
Hi – Coming out of lurk mode to sympathize. I have about 95 interim reports to write this weekend (all anecodotal of course), so I totally get the “somebody remind me why I went into this field?” moments. Anyway, here’s to a happy resolution of l’affaire iPod.
ouch! can only imagine how hurtful and personal it must feel. hope you will give yourself extra treats (as you more than deserve them after such a week) and regain your faith in (the rest of) humanity!
I teach 9th grade World Geography and doormat me, I was up at school tonight to help chaperone the Homecoming Dance ’cause they were desperate for help.
I think I might be too nice. ~sigh~
That really sucks about the iPod. 🙁
But that’s also the great thing about books. They can really pick you up when you need it — or at least offer you an escape for a couple of hours.
Hope you enjoy Hot Mama! 😉
Lawson – your car insurance may cover the loss of your iPod.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. 🙂
Gwen, I will definitely look into if my car insurance will cover that.
Jennifer, I will put up my review of Hot Mama soon. 😀
Oh, Sybil! Hope you enjoy SEDUCTION, especially after the bad day.

Hey Jenna! Thanks for that good thoughts but this is lawson posting not me ;). I know if you want a min and blink things change around here.
We now have a total of 7 people reviewing for the blog. Seems like a ton but we like to play and read so we are trying for 3 reviews a day and hoping for 2. So you know… expect at least one :).
Sadly I never really got into the series. Loved the first stand alone you did. So I am waiting for the spy books to be over. you know me and spies 😉
I started the Jess M Avon Red but now I can’t figure out where it went. I am wondering if Gwen took off with it.
Ah, yeah see, I’ve been swamped, so I have no clue what’s going on half the time. You might like my next book more. 🙂 No spies. It sort of goes back to my SCANDALOUS roots with a really dark, character driven story with lots of sex. LOL I’m doing revisions right now. It comes out in August 2008. I know spies aren’t for everyone.
Anyway, okay LAWSON, I hope you like SEDUCTION. LOL Whoever is reading SEDUCTION, I hope they like SEDUCTION. I mean, I’m an author, I’m like that. 🙂
