WARNING! The sneak peek includes spoilers for Demon Angel (Berkley Sensation)!
No one would call vampire Colin Ames-Beaumont kind, but they would call him unnaturally beautiful. For two centuries his tainted blood has kept him isolated from other vampires, sustained only by his beauty and vanity—bitter comforts, since a curse has erased his mirror reflection, replacing it with a terrifying glimpse of Chaos.
Savi Murray’s insatiable curiosity had gotten her into trouble before, but she’d always escaped unscathed. Then came Colin. In the midst of Heaven, he gave her a taste of ecstasy—and of Chaos. Deadly creatures from that realm herald the return of an imprisoned nosferatu horde, and Colin and Savi’s bond is their only protection—and their only passion…
(Author’s Note: Colin’s not really that bitter.)
Here is the link to a four-chapter sneak peek (it’s a .pdf file – right click and save – don’t just click open) of DEMON MOON, coming in June 2007 from Berkley. It does include spoilers for DEMON ANGEL … you’ve been warned.
Don’t forget you get a chance to win an ARC of DEMON MOON by commenting on any of today’s posts (it will be mailed in April or May, when Meljean gets her ARCs).
What a great excerpt. You have me hooked on Colin and Savi’s story.
Hi cathy! That’s exactly what I love to hear 😉 I’m glad you enjoyed the excerpt!
Sounds good!
Oh my gosh, that is so good!!!! Loved the excerpt! I got so lost (in a good way) when reading it I was looking for the next page! When’s the exact release day for it?
Too I wanted to ask you Meljean, this is a start of a series, is it set how many in the series or is it ongoing (love series, hard to let go of the characters)
Wow! What a great excerpt! It makes me want to read more and it allows to feel the author’s voice. not to mention that I’m very intrigued by Colin 🙂 And by the way, love the cover too.
Amy S — that’s also what I like to hear 🙂 I hope it doesn’t disappoint!
Cathie — DEMON MOON releases in June, and DEMON ANGEL is out now. The very first story in the world was in the HOT SPELL anthology (also with Emma Holly, Shiloh Walker and Lora Leigh — how can you beat that lineup?) but everything that happens in each book is caught up in the following book, so if you don’t read HOT SPELL first you won’t be lost. (I have a list of the books here — also, the series faq page might be helpful, but I won’t link here because I’ll probably be caught by the spamguard).
Right now, I have about eight books planned in the series — but it’s hard to say if it’ll end there, or if something will strike me and take me in another direction. As long as I have good and original ideas, stories to tell, and am not going over the same territory or rehashing characters (and as long as my publisher wants them!) I’ll be writing.
Julia — Thank you! I know I’m biased, but I LOVE Colin. He was so much fun, and such an ass! 🙂 Redeeming him took a lot of work (and many, many pages *grin*).
Oh that sounds soooooooooooooooo good. And I love to hear that you have already planned so many more books in the series.
Sounds so great doesn’t it. That’s why it is on my wishlist. I have got to get to the bookstore soon.
This one sounds really good. I want to get my hands on this series!
Thanks everyone! I really do hope you enjoy both Demon Angel and Demon Moon — they were a blast to write, and I hope equally fun and interesting to read.
Demon Angel is on my next buy order after seeing so many readers I know raving about it, Meljean, so that’s good to hear there will be several more to come.
NOOOOOOOoooooooooo!!!!! I knew I shouldn’t have read this excerpt!!! How am I supposed to wait until June!?!?
That was excellent, really excellent. I’ll admit, after reading Demon Angel, I wasn’t so sure about Colin, but . . . you’ve more than convinced me! I can’t wait to read the rest of his (and Savitri’s) story!
Pam — thank you! I do have several more planned, and I can’t wait to take on some of the ideas I’ve got lined up.
Loonigrrl — I saw your review on Amazon! ::blush:: Thank you so much! And I’m glad the excerpt won you over … I know Colin is, um, not your average hero … and in Demon Angel Savitri seems a bit of a Mary Sue, but I hope their book redeems them both 🙂 I still can’t believe how both of their characters got to me. I thought Lilith and Hugh were great together, but Savi and Colin? *happy sigh*
