Handy Tool for Published Authors
I guess this could be a reader/writer thing, since the negs I keep seeing are coming from readers. Personally I don’t like them but I still can’t put my finger on why. I think it has to do with as a buyer if I want info from the maker I want to go to them. Not have them come to me.
It almost seems like another form of spam. I would like it more if you had to select the plog to get the info vrs you get the plog unless you go through the trouble to unselect.
What about you? Have you found the Plogs nifty or annoying? Oh and why I am at it, am I the only one who doesn’t ‘get’ myspace? Are adults really doing this now? Why? The only people I know in real life with myspace are 18-22 and not the sort of people I would want to spend time with in real life or on the web.
Am I missing some super sekret myspace place? Or are those 18-22 the ones authors want 2 B downwif. For Reals….

I always thought myspace was for teens too. One of my friends was telling me how she reconnected with old high school friends thru it. Then I registered for it so I could look at the page of some guy she was going to go on a date with. So I figured that, hey, let me give it a try. And lo, all of my old high school friends were on it! And they had all “friended” (I think that’s the word) each other. It was funny, and a blast from the past. I don’t think I can be bothered to do anything with my page or to get in touch with any of them, though. I’m a bad, busy, distracted person. Anyway, that’s how I think older people use it, to reconnect or to investigate people as potential dates or employees.
I hate the plogs, and I don’t get myspace either. It confuses me and I can’t build a pretty website and I’m not interested in “friending” a million guys looking to get…ah…”friendly”.
So thumbs down on both for me.
Here’s another I-don’t-it/My Space vote. A couple of weeks ago, on Alison Kent’s site, I likened My Space to the blog version of a banner ad for authors. 😛
I wish Amazon would let us do the Plogs, but only put them on the page for the book they’re related to. I like being able to give a little ‘author note’ on the Amazon book page (which is what I use my ‘plog’ for), but not having it sent to anyone who buys my book. That seems irritating.
I don’t get the plogs and I don’t get MySpace.
I have a MySpace, but I still don’t get it. And I have a fair number of non-writing friends on MySpace. I really don’t get it.
