REVIEW: Hot In Here by Sophie Renwick

Book CoverSandy M’s review of Hot In Here (Ryland Brothers, Book 1) by Sophie Renwick
Contemporary Erotic Romance released by NAL 2 Jun 09

I don’t usually care for a friends-to-lovers story, but I have to say that Sophie Renwick has penned a pretty darned good one in this book with likable characters, sizzling love scenes, and a little fun along the way that really appealed to me. The fact that I love to cook and the hero in the book is a chef is an added bonus.   [Gwen ed.: this cover is making me drool all over my keyboard.] read more…

REVIEW: Wyoming Wedding by Sara Orwig

Book CoverHolly‘s review of Wyoming Wedding (Stetson’s and CEO’s, Book 3) by Sara Orwig
Contemporary Romance released by Silhouette Desire 9 Jun 09

This is the third book in Sara Orwig’s Stetson’s and CEO’s series and the only one I’ve read. I don’t think I missed anything by skipping the first two. Actually, the other couples were only mentioned briefly and made one or two brief appearances, so I think these can be read as stand-alones. read more…

REVIEW: Twice The Pleasure by Portia Da Costa

Book Cover Wendy the Super Librarian‘s review of Twice The Pleasure by Portia Da Costa
Erotica short story ebook released by Spice Briefs 1 May 09

What is it about high school reunions that seem to inspire so many different types of stories? Whether it be the heroine who wants a hunky fake fiance’ on her arm to show up the “mean girls” or the heroine who wants to reconnect with the boy who drove her hormones wild as a teenager, high school reunions certainly seem to jump start a writer’s imagination. Portia Da Costa’s latest short story for Spice Briefs definitely falls on the naughty side of the spectrum. A heroine who wants to relive a fantasy interrupted. read more…

REVIEW: Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas

Book Cover Lawson’s review of Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas
Historical romance released by Bantam 19 May 09

If you haven’t read Thomas’ first two books, you need to go and get them and read them ASAP. If this is your first Thomas book, you won’t be sorry. It’s loosely connected to Private Arrangements and Delicious, but not part of any sort of series and stands very well on its own. It’s also a bit timely in that it’s set in the Swat Valley in what is today Pakistan, where various rebellious groups and militants are staging their own uprising, though the setting is in 1897 and not the present day. I must point out as well that the summary, while not terribly inaccurate, doesn’t really give the best description of the book. read more…

REVIEW: Atlantis Unleashed by Alyssa Day

Book CoverGwen’s review of Atlantis Unleashed (The Warriors of Poseidon, Book 3) by Alyssa Day
Contemporary paranormal romance released by Berkley Sensation 2 Jun 09

This is one of the paranormal series I like to read, but forget about between entries.  It’s normally a long time between full-fledged novel-length books in this series, and my attention span is shorter than that (my mom calls it AAADD – Age-activated Attention Deficit Disorder).  So I forget about it and yet have so much fun reading them when they come around.  read more…
