REVIEW: Handpicked Husband by Winnie Griggs
Dinca’s review of Handpicked Husband (Texas Grooms, Book 1) by Winnie Griggs
Inspirational Historical Romance published by Harlequin Love Inspired 4 Sep 12
Well, nobody is perfect! These two people take a new look at the world though the eyes of the other and work their way through the shadows that obscure any future happiness they may have together. It just takes 288 delightful pages to see the mastermind at work behind the scenes. Keep in mind that this is a Love Inspired and very enjoyable from cover to cover.
REVIEW: Some Recent DNFs by Garbera, Mortimer, & Dunlop
DNF (Did Not Finish) is a strange grade. I use it if I’ve read three chapters or more of a book and I’m not feeling it. it might be that I’m not in the mood for that kind of story, or that the story features some of my unfavorite tropes, or that something isn’t working. That’s not to say it’s a bad book, which is why it’s a strange ranking. It’s often a very subjective grade, so that what didn’t work for me one day might work the next, or it might be just the book you’re looking for. So here are a few. There isn’t enough to write a whole review on, but I’ve had a run of these recently, so I thought I’d list them. When I get an ARC, I try very hard to read the book, because they’re is entitled to some kind of acknowledgement for being kind enough to send me the book. So please don’t take these as necessarily bad. Just books I didn’t finish.
REVIEW: Exquisite Revenge by Abby Green
LynneC’s review of Exquisite Revenge by Abby Green
Contemporary Romance published by Mills and Boon Modern Romance 1 Nov 12
I’ve enjoyed books by Abby Green in the past, so despite the awful cover, which seems to have little relation to what happens inside the book, I picked it up with pleasurable anticipation. Unfortunately, this one doesn’t quite work for me.
REVIEW: All Afternoon with a Scandalous Marquess by Alexandra Hawkins
Sandy M’s review of All Afternoon with a Scandalous Marquess (Lords of Vice, Book 5) by Alexandra Hawkins
Historical Romance published by St. Martin’s 31 Jul 12
It seems I’m in the minority among readers and reviewers in liking – no, loving this latest Lords of Vice book. I’m sorry I waited so long to read it. I usually don’t read other reviews before writing my own, but even our own Veena had her doubts about the story. So I had to see what others were saying. And I totally disagree with them all.
REVIEW: Waking Up with a Rake by Connie Mason and Mia Marlowe
Sandy M’s review of Waking Up with a Rake by Connie Mason and Mia Marlowe
Historical Romance published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 1 Jan 13
So far I’ve really been enjoying this collaboration of old and new romance with Connie Mason and Mia Marlow. The writing is seamless and the characters, along with the storylines, have always kept my interest. While their latest release is a good read, it doesn’t grab me the way their prior stories have. Mostly it’s the hero who gives me a difficult time, and that’s something that is unusual for me. Me and heroes? Normally a perfect fit.
REVIEW: Wolf Nip by Vivian Arend
Sandy M’s review of Wolf Nip (Granite Lake Wolves, Book 6) by Vivian Arend
Contemporary Paranormal Romance ebook published by Samhain 12 Feb 13
Sometimes a romance book doesn’t need a mystery, a villain, or a puzzle of any kind to figure out. Sometimes all it takes is romance and love, and in this case of Vivian Arend’s latest release in her Granite Lake Wolves series, that’s the perfect thing.

REVIEW: The Reunited by Shiloh Walker
Sandy M’s review of The Reunited (FBI Psychics, Book 3) by Shiloh Walker
Romantic Suspense/Paranormal Romance published by Berkley Trade 5 Feb 13
Shiloh Walker is completely amazing me with this FBI Psychics series of hers. Each book is better than the last, but I have a feeling it’s going to take quite a bit more imagination for her to trump Joss Crawford and his amazing ability in this latest book.
REVIEW: The Price of Retribution by Sara Craven
LynneC’s review of The Price of Retribution by Sara Craven
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Presents Extra 1 Oct 12
Sara Craven is Old School. Really, really Old School. So I’ll say from the outset that if you love Harlequin romances as they used to be, you will adore this one. It didn’t do it for me, but I can totally see why it would for others. A comforting read, a sweet read, and one where the characters all mind their p’s and q’s and talk like proper English ladies and gentlemen.
A DUCKIE LOOKS BACK REVIEW: First Comes Love by Elizabeth Bevarly
Dinca’s review of First Comes Love by Elizabeth Bevarly
Contemporary Romance published by Silhouette Desire 1 Oct 00
This book is full of faux pas and misunderstandings. The whole town needs to work on their communication skills. It is silly at times with funny thoughts, and I enjoyed the story. If you are looking for a light read this will fit the bill. It is an older book by Ms Bevarly, which I didn’t realize that when I started reading it. I assume they are making her older books available in ebook form, which is what I have.
