Sandy M’s review of I’ll Be Home for Christmas (Coming Home, Book 6.5) by Jessica Scott
Contemporary Romance novella published by Forever Yours 5 Nov 13

This is my first Jessica Scott book, and it certainly won’t be my last. I wish I hadn’t found this series so late, with six books already written. After meeting Vic and Nicole Carponti, I want to read more about Ms. Scott’s brave military heroes and the heroines who support them no matter what. Because of the emotion that fills this book, I have a feeling she’s going to be one of those authors whose books I can’t wait to get to as every new release date draws near.

REVIEW: Lady Jenny’s Christmas Portrait by Grace Burrowes

Book CoverStevie‘s review of Lady Jenny’s Christmas Portrait (Windham Series, Book 8) by Grace Burrowes
Historical Romance published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 24 Sep 13

It’s taken me a while to decide how to grade this book. On the one hand it’s a historical that most of the time completely immerses me in its world, and a series novel that works as a standalone, even though there are a few points where the cast feels a little unwieldy due to couples from previous stories having to make an appearance. Eventually, however, I decided I felt too let down by the sacrifices the characters feel they have to make in a setting where neither of them can have everything they desire, but where a little more compromise might have been possible without giving up on the romantic happy ever after.

REVIEW: Ever After Anthology by Ryan, Harte, Royce, Davis & Shaw

Book Cover

Sandy M’s review of Ever After by Ryan, Harte, Royce, Davis & Shaw
Paranormal Romance anthology published by Fated Desires Publishing 25 Sep 13

Anthologies always make me nervous. I know it’s a good way to sample an author’s work to see if you’d like to pick up more of their books. Usually for me there’s only one or two of the featured novellas I like. All of these stories in this particular anthology have good elements in each, but this time around there’s something else that’s left me chomping at the bit – every one of them is part of a continuing series by each respective author, and they all leave the reader hanging with no resolution, other than the main characters are now together. Whatever event is on the horizon in the series is still sitting there, to be continued and/or completed in the next however many books. Since I’ve not read any of these series, I ended up a bit antsy that I was left hanging in most instances. However, that doesn’t take away from what these talented authors do give their fans.

REVIEW: The Scandalously Bad Mr. Milroy by Alexandra Hawkins

Sandy M’s Review of The Scandalously Bad Mr. Milroy (Bedagraynes, Book 2) by Alexandra Hawkins
Historical Romance published by St. Martin’s Paperbacks 1 Nov 13

I am thoroughly enjoying this Bedegrayne family. Therefore, I’m hoping updated versions of the last two books will be forthcoming soon. Now that I’ve gotten to know Devona and Wynne, older brother Brock totally intrigues me, and after reading about the trauma Devona’s friend Lady A’Court goes through in this book, I’m really looking forward to her finding love as well as peace and safety. There’s never a moment’s idleness in this series, that’s for sure.

REVIEW: Behind His Blue Eyes by Kaki Warner

Sandy M’s review of Behind His Blue Eyes (Heroes of Heartbreak Creek, Book 1) by Kaki Warner
Historical Western Romance published by Berkley 2 Aug 13

I’m glad Kaki Warner is adding to her Heartbreak Creek series with this new spin-off series, Heroes of Heartbreak Creek. As much as I love all the characters I’ve meet from this friendly,  upstart town in the first three books, I look forward to all the new folks she’ll introduce me to in these new books. Everything about her stories is heartwarming, sweet, and sensual as well as fraught with danger and outlaws, which gives her characters more strength and courage than they ever thought they’d have. The Old West is alive and well in Kaki Warner’s hands.

REVIEW: The Christmas He Loved Her by Juliana Stone

Book CoverVeena’s review of The Christmas He Loved Her (Bay Boys of Crystal Lake, Book 2) by Julianna Stone
Contemporary Romance published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 24 Sep 13

Ms. Stone is an auto-buy for me. I love her insights into human nature, her strong three-dimensional characters who feel like real people, and emotions that reach out and suck you in to make you a part of whichever world she’s painting, whether it’s a paranormal or contemporary read.
