Book CoverSandy M’s review of The Scoundrel in Her Bed (Sins for All Seasons, Book 3) by Lorraine Heath
Historical Romance published by Avon 26 Feb 19

As all Lorraine Heath fans know, reading her books will pull your heartstrings so taut, your emotions will be running rampant in no time. Finn Trewlove, born on the wrong side of the blanket, and Lady Lavinia Kent have come face to face after nearly a decade, when betrayal tore them apart and leaving them with lies and hurt. However, things are about to change.

We met Lavinia in the last book when she left her betrothed at the altar and fled to Whitechapel. Here we learn that after so many years of the inability to please her parents – snobbish, horrible people who can never be pleased – she now becomes a shadow in the night to free young bastard children from either a horrific childhood or certain death. She learned about these children through Finn, of course, taking his story to heart when the met as teenagers and had a special connection.

Finn rescues Vivi during one of her child-bartering sessions that goes wrong. He’s as fascinated with this mature, adventurous Vivi as he was with the young, innocent version. Finn is the one who wants to move forward, but he’s willing to go slow. Vivi still has secrets on top of believing a relationship with Finn just won’t work. Her secret is a huge one, but the way Finn takes it when it’s revealed and still accepts Vivi as she is, helping her through another heart-wrenching time, he steals your heart all over again. This is the one most emotional moment in the book, and Ms. Heath pulls every tiny heart string to make sure you feel it.

Both of these characters develop quite nicely throughout the story, especially Lavinia. She has the most to learn due to her upbringing. Though he has nobility running through his veins, Finn’s life has always been full of love and family. It takes Vivi a bit longer to come to terms with what Finn wants of her.

I always enjoy catching up with the Trewlove family. Mick is my favorite so far, though Finn is right behind him. I had hoped Finn would end up with a better relationship with his biological father, as has happened in the first two books, but alas, we have to be happy with that slimeball getting his comeuppance through his sons. I am definitely looking forward to Aiden’s book, which will be on the shelves this August.
