Determined to expand my reading horizons, I picked up this sweet and sexy contemporary romance by an unknown-to-me author. From the get-go I enjoyed the sparks between the two protagonists and the determination on the part of our millionaire to win the fair lady, who definitely has a chip on her shoulder where money is concerned.
As the family baby, Miles lives a charmed life, enjoying the job that his daddy created for him and living his life to the max. Then he meets Tess at a charity ball. Tess is a nurse who’s attending the benefit designed to raise money for the hospital where she works. Divorced, a mother of three, she lives a full life, devoting her time and attention to her children and making a decent living for them.
Open to a night out on the town, ready for her annual sex-and-steam encounter, she definitely did not plan on Miles, who follows up on a night that rocked them both, with a personal visit looking for her at the hospital. Before long, dared on by her divorcee support group, she’s meeting him for lunch and nookie. Then it’s the sexting in the laundry room – even her kids, especially her teenage daughter, notice the amount of time being spent in the laundry room.
Miles is persistent and charming and dissolves her barriers one by one, getting close to her heart, her kids. Of course, it’s bound to happen. Tess has high expectations and expects Miles to fail…Can they pick up the threads and work their way through the angst and the agony?
All in all, a nice fun read designed to break up the post holiday doldrums.
