This is Book 1 in Debbie Mason’s Harmony Harbor Series, of which I will definitely be reading the rest. Every old mansion should have a story to tell, not to mention its very own ghost – delightful ghost at that with its very own black cat!
Sophie DiRossi has returned to Harmony Harbor to call her Life back together after her daughter Mia is traumatized by a fire. Of all the secrets Harmony Harbor has told, as it turns out, her secret may not be the greatest ever revealed.
Liam Gallagher returns to Harmony Harbor on a medical leave of absence from his firefighting position in Boston. He was shot and lost a fellow firefighter during a fire rescue mission. His father, who is the Fire Chief at Harmony Harbor station, is providing him with light fire duty while he works through his trauma.
As it turns out, Mia has to be rescued from a tunnel full of smoke caused by Halloween smokescreen machines. Mia has not spoken since the fire in L.A., but she makes a connection with Liam Gallagher.
Growing up Liam and Sophie had a crush on each other. Liam was older and waiting for Sophie to catch up, when his cousin Michael came in and swept her off her feet.
I was totally surprised by the turn of events throughout the whole story. Not one page is a disappointment. It was hard to put down because there are great spots on nearly every page.
I’m looking forward to the next book in the Harmony Harbor series, Christmas with an Angel. And, according to the author’s web site, Starlight Bridge will be the third book. I can hardly wait to see what the Widow’s Club will be up to next.
Ms Mason has well-developed characters – not only her hero and heroine, but the secondary characters as well. Sometimes it’s so hard to tell which ones are secondary. I enjoyed the personalities of all her characters. The Widow’s Club characters are the towns little old ladies and a real hoot. I hope you enjoy their antics as much as I did.
