Sandy M’s review of Second Chance Bride (Great Wedding Giveaway, Book 2) by Trish Morey
Contemporary Romance published by Tule Publishing Group 6 Apr 14
I’ve obviously had this book since April. It somehow got lost in the shuffle and I’ve just now read it. Little ticked at myself I waited so long to get to it, because I had a blast with Scarlett and Mitch as they whoop it up in Australia.
I love the way this story begins. Scarlett has just heard her mother is in the initial stages of Parkinson’s and she’s needed at home in Montana – pronto. But she needs the money for the air fare. So the quickest way she can get that is in a local brothel, Bella’s Belles in Kalgoorlie. Boy, you have to give the gal props for impulsiveness. Which has been her downfall so far in life. When she’s chosen by a handsome customer over the career working girl, Scarlett tries to keep the bottom line in mind, but at the last minute she just can’t go through with it, despite the hunk who’s ready and waiting.
After being unceremoniously rejected at Bella’s Belles when he needs a woman after twelve days on his mining job, Mitch gives up and heads to the local bar to enjoy a few drinks. It’s not to be, however, when the same gal, sans her little pink boots, causes another stir in his life, which she tries to make amends for in buying him a cup of joe. Getting to know her in just that few minutes, that she needs money to get home, he throws out a proposition before she can get away.
Scarlett is a girl after my own heart. She may be impulsive, but she does things most of us will never do. So when Mitch offers her a few days in Broome on his arm as a date to his ex’s marriage – to a good friend of his – she tries to think about it logically. But she’s heard about Broome and the Staircase to the Moon. And she’ll get home much, much sooner with the monetary incentive he’s offering. Being in the company of a handsome – and built – man will be nice too. Who knows what will happen?
I love Scarlett’s optimism, thinking she’ll get along with Mitch’s ex. But when she comes upon the woman coming on to him, Scarlett turns on her heel, heads back to their room and dresses to kill. She and Mitch are having the time of their lives in bed and out, and no smart-mouthed bitch is going to horn in. Of course, the wedding doesn’t go as planned, but doesn’t matter much to them; they’re having a terrific time in this part of Australia. I have to say, I’d love to see that Staircase to the Moon. Sounds like a beautiful phenomenon.
So after the wedding, Scarlett gets on a plane bound for the US and they go their separate ways. What??? Well, you don’t think I’m giving away the ending, do you? This is truly a fun and entertaining read, and I’m looking forward to reading more books from the Great Wedding Giveaway series.
Summary:
Scarlett Buck has always been flaky in comparison to her sensible twin sister Tara, so nobody is really surprised when Scarlett spends all her money on a one way ticket to Australia to be with the man she’s met on the Net. But she hasn’t reckoned on the guy already being married, or her mom getting sick, and now she needs money for a flight home to Marietta, MT—quick. Signing on with Bella’s Belles in Kalgoorlie isn’t be the proudest moment in her life but it will get her home fast. After all, it’s just sex.

Mitch Bannister’s ex is about to marry his best friend, and he could really do with a cold beer and a hot woman. But the cowgirl he takes a shine to at Bella’s is surprisingly skittish, and in the end he leaves without hooking up.
Later, when Mitch spies the cowgirl in the local pub begging for a job, he shrinks into the shadows–he’s not looking for complications, and something tells him that Scarlett Buck is a whole handful of them. But soon it’s clear she’s not just trouble, she’s in trouble, and like it or not, he’s not about to turn his back on this stray from the States. Especially if she can do him a favor in return. After all, it’s just a helping hand.
