I read this book because I was very intrigued by the author’s name when I received an invitation to review it for NetGalley. The fact that it is an erotic romance featuring dragon shifters is definitely an added attraction.
Stig Wyvern is a dragon shifter. His best friend’s baby sister’s arrival on his doorstep is a bit of an unwelcome surprise, both because he’s attracted to her and also because he’s starting his mating cycle. He needs to keep her safe not just from what she’s running from but also from himself.
Cora’s gotten herself in a spot of trouble and reaches out to the safe haven promised to her by a set of keys presented to her by Stig Wyvern at her brother’s funeral. She’s hugely attracted to Stig and has to deal with erotic dreams featuring him as the star attraction. But she’s sure there’s a mystery someplace and she’s determined to solve it, even at the cost of taking her life in her own hands.
There is a real tongue-in-cheek side with a group of dragon slayers who are known as the Saint George’s society, who feature in the story as they try to leverage Cora to get to Stig. Clearly the dragons have forgotten about unicorns and innocent maidens, since they all take vows of celibacy. Well, Cora certainly took care of that with her dragon.
This is a first book for me by this author. It’s a bit too short. I think there is a lot of potential that could have been developed further, but what’s there, I enjoyed. I will caution the readers that while this is rated as an erotic romance, I would not qualify it as such based on what’s out there with that qualification.
