Veena’s review of Undercover Wolf (STAT, Book 2) by Paige Tyler
Paranormal Romance published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 25 May 21

On an undercover mission, Harley is surprised to find another wolf shifter, and not just an ordinary wolf shifter but one working with a rival alphabet agency tasked with the same mission as she and her team. What are the odds? Of course, Harley is on a team of supernaturals and Sawyer’s team has no idea that he is a wolf shifter.

As the two teams join together to pursue the same bad guys, it turns out that Harley and Sawyer may actually have a lot more going on than simply partnering on the job. Sawyer’s team is openly skeptical and even hostile about shifters; hence why Sawyer has never come clean.  Harley has suppressed her wolf for years because her family was not accepting of her change. Can the two heal each other, even as they are tasked on a dangerous mission together?

There are unexpected twists and turns as well as new twists to the turns with some really cool characters with some interesting supernatural powers. There are some nice adrenaline-fueled episodes and chases that keep the story moving at a good clip.  I believe we are just getting our feet wet in this series with a lot more excitement to come.

Grade: B

Summary:

When these two agents are under fire, they’ll have to reconsider everything they know…

Werewolf Harley Grant isn’t exactly comfortable with her inner wolf. Even though she’s on a STAT team where she can use her abilities openly, she refuses to do so, putting herself—and sometimes her teammates—at risk.

Alpha werewolf Sawyer Bishop would give anything for his MI6 team to know about his inner wolf, but his teammates are mistrustful of anyone or anything with inhuman abilities. When he meets Harley on an overlapping case and realizes she’s a fellow wolf, he’s more than a little intrigued.

Now that STAT and MI6 have to team up to stop a crew of supernatural bad guys intent on causing a nuclear meltdown, Harley can no longer deny her wolf and Sawyer can no longer hide his. As they grow closer to resolving the case and grow closer to each other, they discover things aren’t what they seem and revenge could cost them their lives.
