Veena’s review of Madame President by Tara Sue Me
Contemporary Romance published by After Six Publishing 06 Oct 20
This book is a total departure from Ms. Sue Me’s earlier erotic fare. This is a beautiful story of two people who find love despite all odds. Anna Fritzpatrick is determined to focus on her job as the President of the United States, giving up all thoughts of a personal relationship. But then when an old acquaintance becomes part of her press pool, he poses an irresistible temptation. Will she break a campaign promise for love?
Anna and Navin Hazar had once studied at Harvard together. They had been part of the same study group and had enjoyed one night of unforgettable sex before Navin disappeared from her life. Now Anna has just won the presidency and Navin is the television anchorman of one of the leading news channels and the media’s golden boy. Navin turns down Anna’s invitation to escort her to the inaugural balls, but finds himself escorting her all the same when her escort, a recovering military hero, finds himself unable to continue. For his transgressions, he’s demoted from his prestigious position to the president’s press pool.
Despite all odds, the two of them find they cannot ignore the other and find themselves connecting over unexpected work and personal opportunities. Their romance finds itself making its way through the White House, from the Oval Office to private breakfast rooms to the president’s bedroom. Someone, however, is spying on them and pictures of their shared secret moments are leaked. There’s no help for it. Anna won’t jeopardize the presidency and Navin won’t go back to what he once did.
The story flows seamlessly and believably. This book is touted as a stand alone, so I’m not sure what the author has in mind from a future perspective for these two protagonists, but I am a bit peeved that she never reveals who the spy is and what their motive is.
Summary:
This is Washington DC and there’s only one she here.
For Independent Anna Fitzpatrick, being President of the United States means she’s finally in a place to make a difference. Known for her intellect and charm, she never appears anything other than calm. After getting dumped by the man she’d been living with once he learned of her presidential bid, Anna vows to remain single throughout her term. It’s an easy task, after all, no man has ever made her feel the way her law school classmate did years ago. Or at least the way he made her feel until he walked away without so much as a goodbye.
Navin Hazar is content being one of the nation’s top news anchors. It may not be the plan he had for his life, but plans don’t always go as anticipated. Like his plan for no one to find out he knows Anna personally or did know her, once upon a time.
For over ten years, they’ve been able to ignore each other, but her election to the highest office changes everything. And when Navin inadvertently lands on Anna’s Press Pool, they realize the only thing more aggravating than politics is love.
