Book CoverVeena’s review of Hindsight (Kendra Michaels, Book 7)  by Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen
Romantic Thriller published by Grand Central Publishing  07 Jan 2020

Adam Lynch needs Kendra Michaels safe and busy in the US while he holds down the fort in Afghanistan.  Little does the San Diego FBI or Adam know that the case involving murder at the school for physically disabled, where Kendra and her friend Olivia were once students, definitely will end up being personal and painful with no quick answers.  The dead are not revealing their secrets, but Kendra has quite a few tricks up her sleeve, as well as friends who team up with her on this one.

This book is a fast-moving story typical of this series by this mother-and-son duo.  Not only does Kendra find a friend in the school, a young physically disabled teenager who’s a hacker extraordinaire, but her usual crew of Metcalf, Griffin, Lynch, Jessie, and Olivia are all on hand to help her, along with the murdered victim’s dog.  Clues lead Kendra to the estranged husband of the teacher, from where she pursue suspects and barely escapes with her life. Enlivened with her interactions with Adam, who is definitely in the doghouse for getting her out of Afghanistan, readers will enjoy working with Kendra and her friends as an alarming story evolves.

Tunnels from Mexico, drug kingpins, and smuggling all add a nice touch of spice and danger to closing the case. Along the way Kendra herself becomes the focus of an obsessed killer who wants desperately to take her down as a feather in his cap.

A solid entry in the series that will keep readers turning pages and assessing clues and enjoying the chase all the way till the very end.

Grade: B
