Book CoverDinca’s review of Ethan (Farraday Country, Book 5) by Chris Keniston
Contemporary Romance published by Indie House Publishing

I may be repeating myself since this is the fifth book in the series, but I am still enjoying Farraday Country.  All the characters are well developed with charming personalities. The Farraday men are all a little too perfect at this point, however. I’m ready for one of them to slip and cuss or scratch his butt or something.

Ethan Farraday gets hurt in a controlled helicopter crash. His career is hanging in the balance, depending on his injuries. He is in the hospital post surgery when he gets the news he’s a father. He eventually goes by the apartment where the mother of his child was known to have lived. He plays with a dog in the park across the street while waiting for someone to come to that address.  With no luck finding his daughter’s mother, he goes on home to Farraday Ranch to convalesce and get acquainted with his daughter and also initiate the process for custody.

Dr. Allison Monroe is in the middle of the Amazon when she discovers she’s an aunt and her precious niece has been abandoned by her sister in the small town of Tucker’s Bluff. Trying to locate her sister, she stops off at her last known address and waits for the private investigator across the street in the park. She plays with the dog in the park, until he steals her lunch, and has a conversation with the presumed owner of the dog. She continues on to Tucker’s Bluff as soon as possible with the intention of obtaining custody of her niece. Expecting hostility from the father’s family, she is thoroughly surprised with the heartwarming welcome she receives instead.

And the dog shows up again. I’m beginning to think he is a ghost. Aunt Eileen spots the animal outside the restaurant where Ethan and Allison first meet in town. After hearing the dog showed up in the park in California, she devises a scheme to make sure Ethan and Allison spend a lot of time together.

Again, true love finds its way into the heart of another Farraday and the chosen woman of the gray dog. They come together very quickly in this story. I feel if I was Allison, I would want to know more about Ethan’s connection with her sister. The author let us know, but not Allison. What is giving this story a B rating instead of an A is the abrupt ending and little details I feel could be answered easily in the story line. However, the Faraday family is still holding my interest.  Finn is the sibling whose story is next. No clue was given in this book as to the direction Finn’s love life will take.

Summary:

The maverick brother in a family of Texas ranchers, Ethan Farraday found happiness in the cockpit of a Marine helicopter. When his career choice is threatened by a recent injury and the unexpected discovery of a baby daughter, the last thing he needs is to lock horns with a feisty woman hell-bent on turning what’s left of his world upside down.

The middle of the Amazon is no place to discover your free-spirited sister has left her baby on someone else’s doorstep. Determined to correct her sister’s wrong, Dr. Allison Monroe follows the trail to Tuckers Bluff and comes toe to toe with a six foot dreamy cowboy and his arsenal of helpful relatives eager to make love not war.
