Book CoverVeena’s review of Dark Alpha’s Hunger (Reapers, Book 6) by Donna Grant
Paranormal Romance published by St. Martin’s Paperbacks 07 Aug 18

Despite my initial disappointment that Donna Grant takes a detour on delivering the story that I expected as a natural continuation from the last book in this series, I really enjoyed this story. Eoghan has been ripped away from his group of Reapers and “lost” for a few books.  Imagine the surprise when the musician heroine in this story is able to wrest him free from the darkness that has held him and have him emerge from the standing stones that have haunted her most of her life with her music.

Thea has been drawn to the standing stones since childhood. Yet no one is more surprised than she is when her music helps her rescue a man from the jaws of the stones. Who is Thea and what magic does her music hold? Readers will be electrified to learn Thea’s parentage and revel in some of the  secrets that are revealed. It seems like the Dragon King series is on a close intersect path with this series with characters crossing over with impunity.

Since Bran is taking up so much time for the group of Reapers we’ve met so far, the author introduces us to a brand new band who will be operating under Eoghan’s leadership.  I’m sure Ms. Grant has a grand master plan behind introducing all these new characters. Thea and Eoghan are a great couple who fall in love, of course, despite the restriction on the Reapers finding love.

A great entry into the series. I can’t wait to see how the story line develops in both this series as well as the Dragon Kings series.

Grade: B+

Summary:

There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you…

Where Death leads, I follow. Nothing will stop me from my duty – not even the darkness that claims me. It’s the music that leads me from the dark, returning me to my brethren and a new foe that has risen. Learning who hunts Thea could be the key to unraveling what we need to know to defeat our enemy. The Half-Fae’s music stirs a passion within me that I’ve never known. For her, I will break my vow of silence. For her…I will risk everything.
