Book CoverVeena’s review of Erected (Erector Set 1) by Desiree Holt
Contemporary Romance published by Totally Bound Publishing 07 Nov 17

This is a fun contemporary romance with a lot of steam.  Both Vanessa and Josh have been hurt in the past and are wary of venturing into a relationship that might put their heart at risk.  But as we readers of romance know, one has to bet the heart in order to have a chance at a happily ever after.

Vanessa is no shrinking violet. She has a job that has her sitting up and taking heads, but when it comes to personal relationships, it’s a different story.  When Josh comes to her rescue like a knight in shining armor, she fights it as hard as she can.  Josh, for all his own baggage, finds himself surprisingly persistent in wanting to know Vanessa better.

Despite her protests, Josh wines and dines Vanessa and ends up taking care of her when she needs it. Soon each encounter leads to more intimacy, such that both Vanessa’s assistant and Josh’s brothers take notice.  The only fly in the ointment is Vanessa’s continued dwelling on her title and position and Josh’s dwelling on his ex-girlfriend.  I kept muttering “move on already!” as I read about it.

I like how Josh uses his brother’s help when he inadvertently re-creates Vanessa’s worst nightmare.  Can Vanessa work past it and give him another chance?  I can’t wait to read what the author has in mind for the other two brothers.

Grade:  C+

Summary:

An accident, an unexpected meeting—and a sizzling attraction.

The first meeting between Josh McMann and Vanessa Bowen is anything but promising. He’s just finished a successful dinner with a client and she’s shrieking that someone’s stolen her brand-new car. The walking cast on her leg doesn’t help matters. Not a good way to start either a personal or business relationship…

One thing leads to another and soon her next collision is an off-the-charts one with Josh in bed. But there’s more than sex at stake here and it will take real commitment to get past the trust issues they both have.
