Book CoverSandy M’s review of Wicked Sexy (Wicked Games, Book 2) by J.T. Geissinger
Contemporary Romance published by Jack’s House Publishing 19 Jul 16

Whenever I read a new author and I like that first book in a series, I’m always a bit wary when I begin to read the next one – mostly because sometimes a followup is never as good as the first that blew you away. Just like the second movie in a series, that sophomore try never seems to live up to the excitement and fun of the first. My hesitation in this case was I didn’t want Tabby to turn out to be so much like her boss in Wicked Beautiful that it would take me just as long to warm up to her as happened with Victoria.

I’m happy to say that doesn’t happen and Tabby is a breath of fresh air – her wit, talent, and sassiness so much fun to read. Because of the way Wicked Beautiful ended, Tabby is the beneficiary of all Victoria had to leave behind for her happily ever after. That, along with her talent in hacking anything and everything known to man, is what brings Connor Hughes back into her life. She tells him to take a hike, the man too obnoxious and arrogant for her. Of course, those are just two of the reasons I love him so much. In the end, however, when Tabby gets only a glimmer of what the job Connor is offering is all about, her woman’s prerogative takes over, she changes her mind and she’s all in to help take down the universally famous hacker who made her life miserable for so many years.

Connor, former Special Ops and now running his own private security firm, is a top-ranked hacker in his own right, but the more he gets to know Tabby, his disbelief and admiration ratchet higher at every turn, and it’s not long before his attraction to her sets in. He learns the cyber criminal they’re after is behind all of Tabby’s secrets. Plus, the man is responsible for a number of terrorist activities the world over. It’s going to take Tabby’s knowledge of the hacker to hopefully bring him down.

Aside from the terrific chemistry between these two, which adds so much to the reading of this book, what I really like is the fast-paced action when Tabby and Connor, along with the FBI, follow their prey through cyberspace, trying to nail him once and for all. There’s plenty of twists and turn involved the closer they get, but in the end it’s Tabby who throws everyone for a loop, knowing there’s only way to finally bring the whole mess to an end. And by this time, love is involved – Tabby won’t let Connor go down with her and Connor isn’t about to let go of this spectacular woman no matter what. After everything they’ve gone through together, I hated that Tabby still doesn’t believe Connor really wants her. But he puts that nonsense to rest when he comes to the rescue, big and bold as you please.

The banter between these two throughout is fun and feisty. Their lovin’ is steamy and sexy. Connor is a terrific romantic hero – though he needs a few lessons here and there – but it’s Tabby who makes this book. Which is unusual for me, because I read romance for the heroes. But once in a while, when a heroine like Tabby comes along, you just have to sit back, go with the flow and enjoy the ride. This is one heck of a ride.
