This book by a new-to-me author is definitely not a mere run-of-the-mill erotic romance. It’s a well-crafted full-length story that incorporates domination into a love story with a strong element of suspense. Emery and Sophie have great chemistry between them from the moment novice Sophie finds herself kneeling at Emery’s feet. The supporting characters are just as terrific, and I can’t wait to see what the forthcoming books in the series have to offer.
Both Sophie and Emery have troubled pasts. Sophie was left behind by a depraved kidnapper who took the friend she was playing with in the park. Seven years old and she never forgave herself for not remembering enough details to apprehend the kidnapper and bring her friend back home safe. Now she’s a crusader for justice, using her pen and the newspaper she works with to tell similar untold stories and bring criminals to justice.
Emery is the survivor of a kidnapping, who returned to his parents while his twin, who was kidnapped along with him, was lost and presumed dead. Now a multi-millionaire, he’s locked himself away from the public eye and lives in a stronghold surrounded by security. The only area outside his stronghold that he seems to socialize in is a high-end BDSM club. When Sophie’s research reveals that the kidnapper is going to strike again, her only option is to find Emery in the club to deliver her warning. Little does she know that she might find the hidden submissive in her as well as a love for all times.
As they explore the passion between them, a killer stalks. It’s a race to see whether love is going to triumph over the psychological warfare being waged by a sick mind. Actually, there may be much more at stake than just the killer as the twists and turns in the story are revealed.
A great read. A great new addition to my ever growing list of authors I enjoy.
