Veena’s review of Surrender by Tawny Taylor
Erotic Romance published by Kensington Books 27 May 14

Abby is willing to do anything to save her brother from going to prison for a crime he did not commit and CEO Kameron Maldonado (Mal) seems open to helping her – for a price. BDSM in the workplace? Is she willing to keep her baby brother out of jail, even if it means that she’ll have to submit to the sexy, dominating CEO? The first kiss is devastating and then things seem to cool down a bit between them, but the upcoming business trip is definitely intended to set the stage to take their relationship to the next level. Except…

A drink of water in the limo leads to an emergency hospital visit and a positive drug test. She’s already said yes, so why would Mal need to drug her? But then he’s drugged by a cup of coffee she fetches for him from the cafeteria. There’s more going on than meets the eye here. Suddenly they are on the run together, trying to figure out who’s gunning for them, while his company and position is taken over by his investors. Is this a case of corporate espionage? Or is there something more sinister going on?

Hanging over Abby like a dark cloud are events in her past where she was unable to save her brother from her abusive father, which lead her to do everything she can now to keep him safe, even at the cost of her safety and sanity. She can’t believe that her beloved brother could have any hand in what’s befallen her and Mal. Mal, of course, is not motivated by love and sacrifice. Past events in his life have led him to control every aspect of his world down to the last inch, including Abby. Will he open up to allow Abby to encroach into his inner self?

As the two of them race against time to uncover the culprit who’s framed them, they uncover startling truths. Will they be able to act on their finding and bring the true culprits to justice? Of course, this is a romance with all the BDSM bells and whistles, so a happy ending is inevitable, but I think the readers will enjoy the journey and the uncovering of some surprising truths along the way. The suspense is really well developed and I’m definitely taken by surprise when the identity of the villain is revealed.

Grade: C+

Summary:

I was his.
To touch.
Anywhere.
Any time he wanted.
Abby is ready to agree to anything to stop her brother from going to prison, but Kameron Maldondo, the owner of MalTech Corporation, is asking for the unexpected. Enthralled by his commanding brilliance, she agrees to be his assistant, at his beck and call for whatever he needs–whenever and however he wants. What that means is for him to decide and for her to submit to. Frightened yet fascinated by what he promises, Abby becomes a willing captive to his caress, undone by his peerless touch, a quivering submission to an aching need for complete carnal surrender. . .]
