Book CoverVeena’s review of Prince of Secrets (By his Royal Decree Duo, Book 2)  by Lucy Monroe
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Presents 01 Aug 13

Prince Demyan Zaretsky is second in line to the throne of Volyarus. It’s his job to seduce and marry Chanel Tanner in order to neutralize a possible threat  to his country.  Determined to do his duty, he disguises himself into what he believes will be appealing to geeky scientist Chanel and engineers a meeting with her. Only he’s the one who’s in for the surprise!

Chanel is not at all like he expects. She’s direct, and once he gets past her barriers, she says it like it really is. She has no filters and words flow from her brain to her tongue. Named for her mother’s favorite designer, she’s afraid that she’s a big disappointment to her beautiful, fashionable mother. She consoles herself that she is named after Coco Chanel, who launched the line in order to promote casual chic for women.

He is charmed by her and soon she burrows through his defenses. As he gets to know her better, he sees the hurt and vulnerability that Chanel keeps concealed, most especially her isolation and sense of failure with her family. He is honor bound to protect this shy, intense woman who is soon to be his wife regardless, while at the same time doing his duty to his king and country.

This is a quick page turner and a sweet romance.
