South Texas 1, Hurricane Season 0
Thursday, July 24, 2008 14:51Posted in category Ponderings
I don’t know about the rest of the state, but damn, we needed the rain we got from Dolly – as little as it was. We have had less than half of the rain we’re supposed to get by now. Almost all of south Texas is on some sort of water rationing, from moderate to severe. My lawn looks like a xeriscape (it’s supposed to be carpet grass).
To date, we’ve gotten less than 6-inches of rain this year. When your total is only 30-inches annually, you can see the trend and it ain’t promising. Here’s hoping we get another couple of Dollys (sorry, Brownsville)
And speaking of hurricanes, this cracked my shit completely up…

I think we got it all up here. Rained on and off for the past 6 days which is not really the kind of weather we get up here.

A tornado touched down in San Antonio! Somewhere on the southside or something.

Liv – *snort chuckle* That’s funny.
For some reason, I feel I must say, “Geeks of the world – UNITE!” after that, though. *sigh*
Up here in the hill country, we got about an inch of rain yesterday, perhaps less. Now we’re only down 11 inches for the year out of our total of 30.

I feel like Charlie Brown-all I got was a rock.
No, seriously. We got about an inch of rain, which will perk up my weeds quite nicely. But I was really hoping for at least a couple days of gray-ness. Sigh. I have the Texas version of SAD; heat and sun make me cranky and depressed.

This is the kind of thing my friends say while doing calc homework:
(21:21:06) chosenvariation2: and i was like “there is no damn trig function that can pull that off”
(21:21:46) iamnotjabovl: yes there is
(21:21:53) iamnotjabovl: joe
(21:22:03) iamnotjabovl: and its inverse function: cojoe
(21:22:14) iamnotjabovl: reciprocal
(21:22:16) chosenvariation2: huh?
(21:22:48) iamnotjabovl: the graph looks like a little dude drinking coffee
(21:23:29) chosenvariation2:-/
(21:23:56) iamnotjabovl: and in the reciprocal function he’s flipping you off
Yay for trig! But now I have all my math credit and can forget it.
It keeps raining AROUND where my house is. The yard is a lovely shade of yellow. Luckily there haven’t been any tornadoes for about two (?) months. Unfortunately, the last one destroyed several houses.
