Twelve Authors Whose Work Has Stayed With Me
1. Julie Garwood – For The Lion’s Lady.
2. Judith McNaught – For writing A Kingdom of Dreams, the book that inspired me to start writing.
3. Johanna Lindsey – For giving us great alpha heroes.
4. Christine Feehan – For showing me that well-written world building can make a vampire world and its society totally believable.
5. Linda Lael Miller – For my first introduction to sexy vampires.
6. Virginia Henley – For super hot love scenes.
7. Jude Deveraux – For making me cry, not once but three times, while reading Remembrance (great reincarnation story).
8. Linda Howard – For writing FABULOUS heroes, especially when we’re in those yummy males’ heads, and for giving us verra hot love scenes.
9. Patricia Briggs – For writing wonderful urban fantasy that sucks you right in and won’t let you go until the last page.
10. Marjorie M. Liu – For her fantastic voice that I can’t describe, other than to say, “Wow! Just read her and you’ll see.”
11. Stephanie Meyers – For reminding us just how sexy “almost” can be in Twilight.
12. Melissa Marr – For writing an awesome YA. I read Wicked Lovely in one sitting.

Interesting. For me she’s memorable because of historical figures and events she includes… AND for the spicy love scenes.

Yay, someone who loves Remembrance as much as me! I adore that book. No matter how many times I read it, I still sob my heart out.

These lists are great for making me remember authors that I really need to get to. I’ve never read Judith McNaught.

Bev (QB). Yes, she was known for that as well, but maaaaaan, those love scenes! *g*
Nalini, I LOVED this book even though it made me bawl like a baby!
Janice, definitely some keepers in there. Check them out.
Devon, yes, I’m really enjoying everyone’s lists. Loved the 12 Paranormal Alpha Heroes of Christmas list!
Great idea, Sybil and I loved the “sticky” title. You’re right, it’s just like peanut butter. Hehe And thanks to Gwen (the formatting queen) for finding all the book covers!

Er, Devon, that’d be your post on the 12 Days of Speculative Romance. LOL!

Another great list, Patrice. Kingdom of Dreams is high on my alltime fave list, recommend it, Devon.

Very much list of awesomeness… I wondered why gwen was asking me yesterday if LLM did vamps. heeeeeeeeeee I just forgot to get around to ASKING her.
My answer was yes, she was vamps before vamps where kewl *g*. (as was Nancy Gideon) Of course I completely fucked the titles, sorry I was thinking of Here and Then and There and Now. Silhouette Special Edition done in the 90′s and were TT, which in turn makes me wrong again as I was thinking she only had three TT (read The Outlaw!).
Some of Virginia Henley’s old historicals are just amazing. She does a great job of marrying historical fiction and historical romance. Or did, I haven’t read her lately.
Your #1 is one of the Garwoods I really wanna read and I have to admit to never having tried Jude Deveraux.

Pam P, The Kingdom of Dreams definitely has some wonderful “melt your heart” moments. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
Yes, LLM did write a vampire trilogy…hmmmm, sexy vampires. To my knowledge those 3 books were the only vampire ones she wrote.
You should check out The Lion’s Lady and Remembrance, Sybil.

Lion’s Lady was the first Garwood I read and I still have it.
Kingdom of Dreams makes me weepy everytime I re-read it.
I have a new respect for YA after reading Twilight and Wickedly Lovely.

Somewhere along the why I lost my copy of Kingdom of Dreams. I’m going to go buy another copy. It has been at least a decade since I read that book. I still have Remembrance though and lend it out to friends for a really good read.
