[Ed.: TeddyPig shares with us 12 ebooks he thinks should be required e-reading for all e-venturers. And lemme tell ya, having read some of them, I gotta e-gree!]
So I was asked to do the 12 duckies of Christmas dealymabobber which made me think of 12 Monkeys which of course lead me to the 4 Pigs of The Apocalypse.
Now would I want to be Phury or Rhage or Butch or Vishous? Nah. Butch was meant to be with Vishous, they are destined for each other. Are you listening J.R. Ward? You buy that clue yet sweet cheeks? Vishous and Butch forever damn it! Dig?
12. Trin by J.M. Synder (From: Aspen Mountain Press). This year I became a J.M. Snyder fanboy. I have sworn to senselessly attack anyone who would besmirch the reputation of our God J.M.S. She told me I get to hand out the Kool-Aid. Squeeee! Trin shows Snyder’s power as a story teller. Trin is Gay and it is Romance, well sorta, but it is also dark and raw and unforgiving and it just needs to be read dang it.
11. Highlander’s Challenge by Jo Barrett (From: The Wild Rose Press). I usually HATE Time Travel Romance. Och! But this year Jo proved she could make me like it. Kilts, jilts and all!
10. Brothers In Arms Book1 ~ The Courage To Love by Samantha Kane (From: Ellora’s Cave). Rocking Raunchy Regency! Ms. Kane proves kickin in your knickers on the parlor room rug while getting all those nasty Regency rug burns is just so so good.
9. My Fair Captain by J.L. Langley (From: Samhain). Regency meets Science Fiction in a Gay Romance. I loved this furry chested cover too! More body hair in Romance!
8. To Touch The Stars by Sienna Black (From: Liquid Silver). Sienna Black wrote a Science Fiction Gay Romance with a blind hero no less. Liquid Silver keeps giving us some really twisted eBooks. All hail our Liquid Silver Overlords!
7. Home ~ Alpha Book 3 by Treva Harte (From: Loose-Id). Treva Harte finished her Alpha Series this year and man was it a must read. You can find the whole series together in one book in print from Loose-Id called Alpha.
6. Thirty Days by Shayla Kersten (From: Liquid Silver Books). Another Liquid Silver eBook and a dang good Gay BDSM Romance. Loved it!
5. The Guardian League 3 ~ Chosen by Amelia Elias (From: Samhain). Amelia came out with the third book in her Guardian League Series from Samhain. Another yummy hero to read about. I can’t wait till she writes me that Gay Guardian book she promised me. I hope she remembers. *sigh*
4. Dunvegan Wolf Clan Book 1 ~ The Heart Of The Winter Wolf by Dani Harper (From: New Concepts Publishing). A wonderful Werewolf Romance for a cold winter’s night, get some hot cocoa and the fuzzy socks and curl up to this one.
3. Master Of Obsidian by Jamie Craig (From: Amber Heat). Jamie Craig does what J.R. Ward only wishes she had the guts to do and wrote a Gay Vampire Romance. I loved every scary minute of this one. Yes!
2. Cascadia Wolves: Wolf Unbound by Lauren Dane (From: Samhain). Coming January 1st! It’s not out yet, but that is not stopping the Pig from drooling over it. *waves* Hey Lauren, we are waiting patiently.
1. Shelly Laurenston (From: Samhain). I had a great time this year reading all the Shelly Laurenston books Samhain republished. Thank you for some great laughs Shelly. You know, if Romantic Paranormal Comedy was a drug you’d be my favorite pusher. So lay down some more lines for the New Year Shelly I need a bump. |
Happy eBook Reading!

Samantha Kane ROCKS! I am SUCH a fangirl of hers, the Brothers in Arms books went immediately on my all time favorites list. You know, At Love’s Command, Ian and Derek’s story, is due out next week at Ellora’s Cave (Dec 12).
But dammit, Teddy! Did ya have to add MORE books for me ta buy!
I’ve been a fan of Shelly Laurenston all along. Dani Harper’s is now on my handheld to read, and I’ve been looking at Jo Barrett’s time travel since I do enjoy them and men in kilts, so looks like you have more adding another to the buylist, Teddy.
Jo Barrett sold me when the heroine is this kickass bodyguard. I mean sending Buffy into the Scottish Mists of Time. I just such a yeah bring on the men in kilts idea.
I loved “To Touch the Stars” and I got it on your reco, TeddyPig. It was a really good story on a lot of levels. Some top-notch writing that.
I loved a Courage to Love by Samantha Kane!! One of the greatest threesomes I have ever read.
Wow, a great list. I’m checking them all out, but have a feeling I’ll end up getting them all because they sound terrific. *sigh*
Syb, as you said I should, I’m asking, have any of them before I start my voyage through the ebooks??
Samantha Kane is to Regency Threesomes what Laura Leigh is to Discovery Channel Buttsecks. Know what I mean?
I have te first Samantha Kane on my ebook reader, and I’ve had my eye on Amelia Elias’s books ever since I read some of her comments on various blogs. But the time-traveling kick-ass bodyguard in Scotland? I have got to see that one for myself!
If there is two things that people not reading eBooks are missing.
Romance can be shocking and so much fun.
The time-traveling kick-ass bodyguard in Scotland.
Yeah she kicks his butt. It’s love at first battle.
I’ve got 2 of the eBooks on the list – The Heart of the Winter Wolf by Dani Harper (absolutely loved it and can’t wait for more in the series!) and Pack Challenge by Shelly Laurenston (I love Shelly Laurenston’s books – my faves are Here Kitty, Kitty and The Mane Event)
A lot of these sound intriguing. I wish I had a bigger book budget.
Thanks for mentioning a few Samhain books, Teddy. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in Lauren’s book and I can’t wait to hear what you think of it so if you contact me at angie@samhainpublishing.com, I’ll send you an advance copy as a little holiday treat.
Angela,
Thank you and Samhain for all the great covers and all the great writers and just showing everyone despite all the ups and downs this year and we al know what those were that eBooks can be topshelf and respectable.
Samhain remains the best example of a solid Internet Publisher making great eBooks that are easy to love.
Must. Stop. Downloading. Books.
You know what is really bad?
I not only bought all these eBooks… I also pick up the paperbacks when they come out so I can put them on my keeper shelf and lend them to my friends at The Eagle.
Jamie Craig and J.L. Langley is currently being furiously passed around by the bartenders at the San Francisco Eagle.
Talk about BAD!
Yes. I’m shopping as I type. Great list, read the reviews, but the jury is still out for me about Trin. And the cover on To Touch the Stars is hilarity itself.
Trin is a hard story but it does have an HEA. I came away feeling that it was damn good… Maybe not what I expected but the writing hit me emotionally right where it was meant to and I had to respect that.
I like the sound of Wolf Unbound by Lauren Dane. I really enjoyed her Chase Brothers series, so have now bought and read the first 3 books in the Cascadia Wolves series and am eagerly awaiting the release of Wolf Unbound in January and Standoff (book 5) in March.
Well here is a secret.
Lauren Dane has been writing this delicious werewolf series over on Ellora’s Cave where I first ran into it.

Go pick up
Enforcer
Reluctant
Tri Mates
Then you will be all set for this new one from Samhain.
ShellBell it amazes me how many people loved the Chase series but had no idea of the Cascadia Wolves Series which I gotta admit was my first love so I have been patiently waiting for this one.
Hi Teddypig .. I definitely have to look into more of LD’s books. Finally got around to looking for her website and couldn’t believe the number of books I’ve missed out on. I have a lot of catching up to do. The one good thing about ebooks is that they are, for me, guilt free pleasures. I have over 500 ebooks, and I just can’t imagine trying to find the space on a bookcase for them if I had them all in print format, so I buy, buy, buy!
Well *putting on my pimp hat*
If you love Lauren Dane Cascadia Wolves go now and grab Amelia Elias Guardian Series because Amelia’s World for Vampires is sorta what Lauren did with her Werewolves. Check it out.
I already have over 140 books on my TBR pile, but what’s a few more between friends! Will be checking out Amelia Elias later tonight – thanks for the tip.
Jo Barrett’s story is phenomonal and I”m thrilled to see she was recognized on this site. I urge all of you to pick up a copy of her story at http://www.thewildrosepress.com.

I should start the ePig awards given out every year. The actual award would be a reproduction of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Swan Hat.
That’s it! The eSwine Award with the Swan Hat.
Nope sorry Sandy, don’t have any of these in the que for review. And as you can tell Bev has already claimed the Kane that comes out next week. If any of the others are sent in for review, you can have first dibs.
I can say Shelly Laurenston & Lauren Dane are both great authors and I have liked just about everything I have read of theirs.
Dunvegan Wolf Clan Book 1 ~ The Heart Of The Winter Wolf by Dani Harper looks interesting, so I may check that one out.
Also the Jo Barrett, never heard of her. But I am rather eh on TT.
Dear Mr Pig,
I so expect a review on TGTBTU for Lauren Dane’s wolf book and/or series.
Thank you
sybil
OK Teddypig, you’re a great pimp. Loved Hunted by Amelia Elias. Will be reading books 2 and 3 of The Guardian League series at some stage this week. Just what I need .. more great authors to tempt me!
Syb,
You got it! I just talked to Santa Samhain (aka Angela James), Lauren Dane ~ Wolf Unbound is being wrapped as we speak.
Goody goody goody *wrings hands in glee*
I mostly read historicals and am not a big fan of time travel historicals, but Highlander’s Challenge is the one exception. Barrett pulled it off with carefully crafted plot and characterization. This book was awesome with a kick-butt heroine and her big, yummy Scot. Jo Barrett has made my list of all-time favorite historical writers.
Tara
Very cool! Santa never comes to see me anymore. ::sniff::
Look forward to your review 🙂
Wow, I’m blushing, truly. Thanks for the kind words – everyone. I was planning to email you myself, Teddy to ask if you wanted a sneaky peek by Angie has it handled I see. I just finished the FLE on it and I hope you like it.
I want to second the Amelia Elias rec – I love her books and I completely agree that JL Langley’s My Fair Captain was excellent.
gah “but” Angie has it handled. ‘Scuse my error!
Teddy, you sweet pig. Thanks for the kudos. And Bev, you know I love you, too! And katiebabs, and everyone else thank you as well, you made my day. I hope you enjoy At Love’s Command. I’m not feeling the pressure…no sirree, LOL. Have a great week.
Sam
Rock On For 2008! I hope to see you all at RWA in San Francisco.
ePubs will represent!
For me, Trin was a EA, not a HEA. Really, really, good read, but not happy
Well my reaction agreed with you but then I read it again and I cannot really say happy or not. Different but obviously they both could never go back to the way they were. So how do we not know that relatively speaking maybe they were happy?
