faye.jpgI thought I’d share a peek into what I’m reading right now.  I’ll be posting my views on these books over the next couple of weeks. I noticed looking at this list that the only romance genre I’m missing is Western!  (Abject apologies, Sybs!)  I’m all over the place!

Book CoverDriven by Eve Kenin
Futuristic action romance, Release 28 Aug 2007

I’m really liking this book so far!

It’s got a very different plot set-up than you usually see in romance and I’m totally digging it, to my surprise.

Blurb:

ROAD WARRIOR
Raina Bowen knows she can handle herself just fine against anything the harsh Northern Waste throws at her. Until it throws her an enigmatic stranger called Wizard. First, she has to haul him out of a brawl he can’t hope to win. And next, her libido is shooting into overdrive at the feel of his hard body pressed against hers on the back of her snowscooter. But there’s something not quite right about this guy. Before she can strip bare Wizard’s secrets, they’re lured into a race for their lives, battling rival truckers, ice pirates…and a merciless maniac with a very personal vendetta.

Book Cover Double Dating with the Dead by Karen Kelley
Contemporary paranormal romance, Release 28 Aug 2007

I hate this cover.  Let’s hope the book is not as low-rent as it looks.  Authors – tell your publishers that SIMPLE IS BETTER when it comes to romance covers!  The “clinch cover” with the castle (or the staircase, as the case may be) in the background is sooooo passe.

Here’s the book blurb:

HANDS OFF MY ASTRAL PLANE!

Psychic Selena James is having the kind of week that makes her happy to talk to the dead. First, famously skeptical (and sinfully sexy) writer, Trent Sanders, called her delusional on TV. Next, her outraged mother publicly challenged him to spend two weeks with Selena at the haunted Garvey Hotel. Now, if Selena can’t prove ghosts exist, she’ll answer to Trent’s private wager: one night in his bed. It doesn’t take any psychic abilities to know Trent could satisfy a woman’s every fantasy. And she may find out very soon, if the two sex-starved ghosts in residence have their way.

Trent Sanders doesn’t believe in anything he can’t see, taste, or touch, and what he sees right now he would definitely enjoying tasting and touching. Selena James might be a bit kooky, but she’s also blessed with a body that could certainly raise the dead, if not talk to them. She’s even got a wicked sense of humor, like when she pinched his butt and insisted it wasn’t her, but one of the “ghosts.” Riiiiiight. But as things move from “haunted” to extremely hot, Trent’s starting to believe the paranormal is a one-way-make that four-way-ticket to paradise.

Book Cover Exclusive (Anthology) by Eden Bradley, Lisa Renee Jones, and Jaci Burton
Erotic romance anthology and I think one is a paranormal, Release 4 Sept 2007

I love these authors.  These should be some good, hot stories.

Let’s see if I can enter one more line return to get the blurb to move to the right spot.

Here’s the book blurb:

The cost: your inhibitions

Eden Bradley’s Sanctuary

Book Cover Passion by Lisa Valdez

Historical romance, Released 5 Jul 2005

I can’t believe I might actually, finally get to this book.  If Sybil, the Task Mistress, doesn’t make me do something heinous.  Okay, so it isn’t exactly heinous to read a book, but work with me here!  I’ve got a lot of delayed gratification trying to get to this thing!

Here’s the book blurb:

PASSION… First in The Passion Quartet

A woman called Passion. A man who would make her true to her name.

In her second year of mourning, lovely young widow Passion Elizabeth Dare never dreamed she would be with a man again–and certainly not a complete stranger. But amidst the crowds of London’s Crystal Palace, Passion finds herself discreetly, yet insistently, pursued by a sensual gentleman who awakens her long-supressed desires. After a loveless marriage of restrained propriety, Passion abandons herself to true bliss for the first time.

Intoxicated by his encounter with the beautiful stranger, Mark Randolph Hawkmore, Earl of Langley, cannot wait to see her again. As a series of rapturous rendezvous follows, he and his mystery lover find something rare and wonderful blossoming between them. But a blackmail scheme against the Earl threatens to destroy everything. As a scandal brews, each will have to choose between duty and desire…their love for their families–and their love for each other.
