The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever by Julia Quinn

At the age of ten, Miranda Cheever showed no signs of Great Beauty. And even at ten, Miranda learned to accept the expectations society held for her–until the afternoon when Nigel Bevelstoke, the handsome and dashing Viscount Turner, solemnly kissed her hand and promised her that one day she would grow into herself, that one day she would be as beautiful as she already was smart.

And even at ten, Miranda knew she would love him forever.

I have probably mentioned this once or twice before but I have never read Julia Quinn. Or I guess the correct statement is I have never read her before this book. I can already hear people about the age of the heroine, which is a whole other post for a later date. But in my opinion, The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever was grand. Yes, there are a few little quibbles I had but nothing that marred my enjoyment of the novel

This seems to be the year of the ‘diary’ book and it is used very well here. It will be interesting to see what long time Quinn fans think of the book. I can’t wait for you to all read it. It is an Avon July historical, which is Avonspeak means it will be out June 26. Keep an eye out for it.
