Though I’m known primarily as an erotic novelist, the sex in my books is fairly tame.
“Vanilla” sex.
One man, one woman, using the equipment God gave them. I went a teeny bit further with “A Familiar Kind of Magic.”
Occasionally, I like to stretch a little bit and try other things. Short stories are the perfect place for me to do this, so you’ll find scenarios and genres in my shorts that you won’t find in my novels. CATCHING CAROLINE is my only historical paranormal, SNARING THE HUNTRESS is my only science fiction, “Magic Fingers” is erotica, as is “Salacious Robinson” (my short in the upcoming GOT A MINUTE? anthology from Cleis Press — edited by Alison Tyler and featuring stories from me, Sasha White, Saskia Walker, and a host of other erotica authors)
“A Familiar Kind of Magic” is my contribution to Alluring Tales–Awaken the Fantasy and it has a few firsts for me — it’s the only story of mine where I use sex toys, it’s my only “magic” story, it’s my only shape-shifter story, and it features a smidgeon of BDSM (just a little bit).
I was intrigued by the idea of magicians and their familiar counterparts. Unlike most of my stories where the hero comes to mind first, in this case it was Victoria who came to me. A sly, pretty Familiar with all the cat-like qualities we indulge in our feline pets.

Just got through reading the excerpts for each of the stoires, and they all sound very hot and sexy. Now Tempting Grace…total yum factor. Can’t wait to see how the “hunter” ropes in his prey.
Enjoyed all the excerpts I read for this book. A Familiar Kind of Magic has all the “fun things” I enjoy in my stories, and I look forward to reading it.
Sylvia, Just had to comment on your work. You have a wonderful talent. I trully enjoy reading your work. If your story in “Got a Minute” is anything like your story A Familiar Kind of Magic, hubby says he can not wait..lol
