The Player by Rhonda Nelson was a new to me blaze author, impulse buy and yeah the cover caught my eye. sorry… sort of… tis a purdy cover *g*
There’s nothing like a man in uniform…or out of it! Especially when he’s as hot as former Ranger Jamie Flanagan. After their last assignment went horribly wrong, he and his buddies needed to get out of the military for good. There was only one catch – that he and his pals promise their commanding officer one favor. Any favor.
Now tall, dark and sexy Jamie is a top security specialist… and the ultimate ladies’ man. So he’s more than a little surprised when he learns the colonel has set him up to protect his granddaughter. Who would trust a player like Jamie with a gorgeous woman like Audrey?
Then he learns his “mission” is to seduce her away from another man….
This is the first story in the downfall of The Bachelor’s League. What? It has to be the downfall or they wouldn’t be romance books. The rules of TBL are simple (and easy to break sez I). Never spend the entire night with a woman! Never share what’s on your plate! Cut her loose after the third date! The set up is a touch silly, easy get out of rangers free card by promising a favor. The Colonel is a might dumb for sending ‘a player’ to do the job than being shocked and pissed at the what happens. But hey go with it, or I did. I liked Jamie and Audrey and for the most part Nelson does a fab job with making rangers sound like tough guys and not pussies. So score!
Next in the series is The Specialist, which is out in September, ending with The Maverick in October. Her blog bes here
I need this one, too. Er, not cuz the cover, I swear. *innocent look*
Let me know what you guys think – I’m not a big fan of Harq Blazes but this sounds good and the cover is very nice. 😛
well for me, click on where it says would you like to know more and you get my rambling
I liked it. Fast read, likable characters and a nice quick I fucked up forgive me scene. I hate it when it takes ‘months’ for those to come around.
I thought dude was Dean Cain at first.
Then I remembered the Dean Cain is flabby and gross now.
