REVIEW: Jackie and the Beanstalk by Jacqueline Meadows

Shannon C.'s review of Jackie and the Beanstalk by Jacqueline Meadows
Fantasy erotic romance eBook released by Ellora's Cave 8 Aug 08
Given that my last experiences with EC books have left me somewhat less than impressed, I'm really glad I can recommend one with enthusiasm. I love fantasy romance, and fairy tales in particular, and I love the premise of the woman from our world ending up in some other fantasy realm. I got all of that in Jackie and the Beanstalk and think it's well worth a look, despite the corniness of the title. Read more

Fantasy erotic romance released by Ellora's Cave 25 Jun 08
Fire Princes' Bride had a blurb that compelled me, and was a bit of an experiment on my part. It's obviously part of a series, and I know that I need to get over my compulsive urge to read everything exactly in order, so I picked this book up hoping the conflict would be entertaining and hoping I could follow along without having read prior books. It turns out that I could, although 'entertaining' is not precisely the word I would use to describe this book. Read more

Fantasy gay erotic romance ebook released by Samhain Publishing 10 Jun 08
There are two things that are guaranteed to make me swoon with delight. One is fantasy. The other is a musician hero. This story features both, which made me exceedingly happy. While I did have my fair share of nits to pick, I thought that the world Maia Strong created was interesting and I would visit it again. Read more

Fantasy/paranormal romance released by Berkley 3 Jun 08
As I've stated numerous times, I love the Sons of Destiny books. The family dynamic is a lot of fun, the world building just keeps getting better and better, and there's always a new twist on the romances presented that keep them from becoming too trite. Read more

Erotic fantasy romance released by Aphrodisia 1 Aug 07
Wow! What a pleasant surprise this book was! I'd been expecting yet another cheesy erotic romance with a lame plot that would lead to much sexoring. I hadn't been expecting a compelling story full of warmth and emotion, with characters I quickly connected with, and told in such a captivating way. Yet, that's exactly what I got, and I now have a new author to look out for. I really appreciated the tip from Karen Scott about this book. Read more

Fantasy romance ebook released by Samhain 17 June 08
Sherwood Smith first caught my eye with Crown Duel many years ago. Years after that I discovered her lj comm Athanarel. There she posted many of her unpublished stories for free - including this one. Now she appears to be making those stories and others available through Samhain and Norilana and taking them down from the site at the same time.

There are good books, books so wonderful I finish them with a sigh and relax into my happy place of reader bliss, books so great I want to visit the world the author has created again and again.
Sadly, Stone of Cruento is not one of these books. Read more

I really wanted to love this book. I have been complaining a lot that I don't find a lot of fantasy romances do nearly a good enough job convincing me of the worlds that the books inhabit, so I was thrilled to finally find a fantasy romance set in a world that I loved visiting. Unfortunately, the heroine, fire fae Leda, got on my nerves, which made it hard for me to really enjoy the book as much as I'd have liked.

Review: The Song by Jean Johnson

ShannonC's review of The Song by Jean Johnson
Fantasy romance published 5 Feb 2008 by Berkeley
Just lately I have been embracing my inner Jean Johnson fangirl. I still couldn't tell you why I love these books, aside from the fact that the author's voice is so refreshing. She is not writing the exact same story with the exact same plot and the exact same characters in book after book, and her characters, while sometimes beyond irritating, are distinct and distinguishable and fun.
