REVIEW: Greek Tycoon, Wayward Wife by Sabrina Philips

Book CoverLiviania’s review of Greek Tycoon, Wayward Wife by Sabrina Philips
Contemporary romance released by Harlequin Presents 1 June 2010

In my infinite wisdom, I pick Harlequin Presents titles to read almost at random.  But not Greek Tycoon, Wayward Wife.  I chose it because I enjoyed Prince of Montéz, Pregnant Mistress by Sabrina Philips.  Unfortunately, my confidence in Philips was misplaced.  Greek Tycoon, Wayward Wife is the worst sort of Big Misunderstanding novel.

REVIEW: Knock Me for a Loop by Heidi Betts

Book Cover LauraJ’s review of Knock Me For A Loop
by Heidi Betts
Contemporary Romance published by St. Martin’s Press

I have a confession to make…I read this book when it first came out. But when I read it, I really just wanted to read it without reading it to critique it. I had been looking forward to Grace and Zack’s story since I first met them in the first book in the series, Tangled Up in Love. I knew then that they were going to be my favorite couple of the three books and now I can say they were. Also by reading it for fun first I had a really good excuse to go back re-read it so I could write up a review. I can still say after the second reading that it is still my favorite of the three.

REVIEW: Spice Briefs by Eden Bradley, Mandy M. Roth, and Megan Hart

Book CoverLiviania’s review of Night Moves by Eden Bradley
Erotic novella released by Spice Briefs 1 May 2010

Eden Bradley manages to keep Night Moves from seeming ludicrous, which is always a risk in erotic shorts.  Kate’s fetish for the movement of trains is convincing and seems sexy rather than silly.  I also bought that she would have sex with Ian when he catches her masturbating.  I even bought into the happy ending.  It was the right edge of sweetness to temper the anonymous (though protected) sex.

REVIEW: The Good Greek Wife? by Kate Walker

Book CoverLynneC‘s review of  The Good Greek Wife? by Kate Walker
Category novel released by Mills and Boon Modern/Harlequin Presents July 10 (US release 2010 Oct o1)

Kate Walker has taken the legend of Odysseus, shaken it hard and brought it up to date for this delightful morsel of a story.

It’s fun to see the way Kate Walker has taken some of the ancient Greek traditions of drama and used them in this book. First, the play would traditionally take place over the course of a day, and Walker’s book also covers a brief space of time – three days. All deaths and dramatic action occur offstage – yes, she does that, which concentrates the romance of the book very effectively. And masks. While they don’t actually wear Comedy and Tragedy masks, the two principal characters have been wearing masks up to now.

REVIEW: Rampant by Saskia Walker

book cover Limecello’s review of Rampant by Saskia Walker
Erotic romance released by Harlequin Spice 1 Apr 10

I have an admitted weakness for witchy things, that I “blame” on L.J. Smith and her Secret Circle trilogy. I’m also drawn to Saskia Walker’s writing, though in this case something in the story just didn’t quite click for me. Regardless, the premise was too good to pass up, with what seemed to be a plausible story line, and something so very unique and interesting. I mean, it’s not every day you find an erotic novel where witches in Scotland are having sexytimes and doing naughty magical things, in every sense. Throw in a mischievous, notorious ghost, and you’ve got quite the party. read more…

REVIEW: The Chief by Monica McCarty

Book CoverSandy M’s review of The Chief (Highland Guard, Book 1) by Monica McCarty
Historical Romance published by Ballantine 23 Mar 10

When I heard about the premise of this series early last year from the author herself, I was definitely intrigued. We even posted a Duck Flash about it since it’s so unique. Special ops with superhero characteristics meets the bravest Highlanders in Scotland to save their country from English rule. I was fascinated from the beginning.

REVIEW: Colters’ Woman (Colters’ Legacy, Book 1) by Maya Banks

Book CoverSandy M’s review of Colters’ Woman (Colters’ Legacy, Book 1) by Maya Banks
Erotic Contemporary Romance published by Samhain 6 Apr 10

Though I keep reading erotic romance and I keep giving fairly low review grades on most of them, there are those few authors out there who know how to write them. Maya Banks is one of those authors. She gives a reader a complete story and doesn’t rely wholly on the erotic to carry her through to the end.

REVIEW: Ten Things I Love About You by Julia Quinn

Book CoverLiviania’s review of Ten Things I Love About You by Julia Quinn
Historical romance released by Avon 25 May 2010

I will freely admit to being partial to Julia Quinn.  The Viscount Who Loved Me was one of my first romances and you don’t forget the books that first brought you to the genre. But I’ll also admit that Julia Quinn isn’t the most consistent author.  I either love one of her books or find it utterly meh.   I loved Ten Things I Love About You.
