REVIEW: Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score
Sandy M’s review of Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score
Contemporary Romance published by That’s What She Said Publishing 13 Jan 22
Since I’ve been having a difficult time finding new authors who work for me, especially after finding a few over the last year or so who I’ve loved, I’m glad my unlucky streak has ended with Lucy Score. This is my first book by her and I absolutely loved it. As much as I like a good kick-ass heroine, it’s a sexy hero who keeps me reading my beloved romance. In this case we get a grumpy bad boy, Knox, and I was in love with his tattooed self right off the bat.
REVIEW: Crowbones by Anne Bishop
Veena’s review of Crowbones (World of The Others, Book 3) by Anne Bishop
Paranormal Fantasy published by Ace 08 Mar 22
Once again, we’re back in Lake Silence and the town of Sproing as humans pit themselves against the Terra Indigene, once more seeking to get the upper hand by fair means or foul. Vicky DeVine and the guesthouse she runs are at the center of the action, as a simple night of trick or treat turns into a truly scary night of blood and gore. It’s up to the team of the Sanguinati, police chief Grimshaw, and Intuit Julian to get answers and stop disaster. The others take a hand by closing all roads in and out of the town until the mystery is solved. There is a sense of familiarity as the story takes off, and yet it’s new and different as you get deep into the unfolding events.
REVIEW: Song of Serenity by Brey Willows
Stevie‘s review of Song of Serenity (A Memory’s Muses, Book 1) by Brey Willows
Lesbian Fantasy Romance published by Bold Strokes Books 14 Dec 21
I greatly enjoyed Brey Willows’ Afterlife Inc. trilogy and the author’s more recent stand-alone contemporary fantasy Spinning Tales, which, we learn in this novel, takes place in the same reality, as does this new series. The basic premise, for any newbies to this world, is that all the gods, along with various other beings of myth, fable and fairy tales, are real, sustained by the belief of those that follow them. In order to keep up with the modern world, the gods have come together as Afterlfe Inc and revealed themselves to the world at large, gaining new followers in the process, but also annoying a lot of people who are dischuffed at having their world view disrupted. This new series opens by showing us what happens when one of those rather pissed-off humans encounters one of the nine muses of classical Greek mythology.

REVIEW: Decker’s Dilemma by Chantal Fernando
Evelyn’s review of Decker’s Dilemma (Knights & Dragons MC, Book 1) by Chantal Fernando
Romantic Suspense published by Carina Press 22 Feb 22
To be honest, I thought this was a paranormal romance based on the name of the Motorcycle Club involved in this book. That is why I started reading it, because PRs are my jam, but it turns out this book is just a good romance book.
REVIEW: Sweet Surprise by Jenny Frame
Stevie‘s review of Sweet Surprise by Jenny Frame
Contemporary Lesbian Romance published by Bold Strokes Books 16 Nov 21
I love butch/femme dynamics in real life, but I’ve had mixed responses to Jenny Frame’s depictions of them in fiction. Some stories I’ve loved, while others have just felt a bit average. So far, the less good ones haven’t stopped me from grabbing almost all her contemporary(ish) romances as they’ve come out and the blurb for this one suggested she was once again writing in a setting I might be familiar with: Glasgow, this time. I also love traditional shops, so the backdrop of a sweet shop and a barber’s added to the appeal. The two heroines are not particularly traditional protagonist material, however.
REVIEW: Juniper Hill by Devney Perry
Sandy M’s review of Juniper Hill (Edens, Book 2) by Devney Perry
Contemporary Romance published by Devney Perry LLC 11 Jan 22
You can’t go wrong reading Devney Perry. At least it hasn’t happened to me yet, and I’ve read several of her series. I have a few more to go, but I anticipate having a good time with characters who could be my next-door neighbors, ladies who make the best girlfriends, and the heroes are to die for every time. Even grumpy heroes like Knox Eden.
REVIEW: An Unexpected Distraction by Catherine Bybee
Veena’s review of An Unexpected Distraction (Richter, Book 3) by Catherine Bybee
Romantic Suspense published by Montlake 30 Nov 21
From the moment Andrew picks up Jax at Heathrow airport and she thinks he’s a chauffeur, I got sucked into their sparkling dialogue and the sheer romance of this perfect couple with a story that has enough suspense to keep the adrenaline flowing. I started reading Ms. Bybee with this series, but I discovered that she has a lot of books to her credit, and I look forward to exploring some of those others soon.
REVIEW: The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell
Stevie‘s review of The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell
Contemporary Domestic Thriller published by Atria Books 05 Nov 19
I was offered a review copy of this, way back around the time of its UK release, but life happened and I never managed to access it in time. Then I spotted the paperback while choosing Christmas books for family and decided I needed to buy it as a present for myself, especially given that I’ve never read anything by Lisa Jewell, in spite of seeing her books all over the place in the UK. So, was it worth the wait?
