REVIEW: Heart of Danger by Lisa Marie Rice
Sandy M’s review of Heart of Danger (Ghost Ops, Book 1) by Lisa Marie Rice
Paranormal Erotic Romance published by Avon Red 6 Nov 12
While there’s that bit of paranormal throughout this first book in Lisa Marie Rice’s new series, it’s still the suspense that takes center stage. Something she does so very well, along with heart-pounding action, gratifying sex scenes, and a hero who is physically flawed and so very noble you just have to love him.
REVIEW: A Tempestuous Temptation by Cathy Williams
LynneC’s review of A Tempestuous Temptation by Cathy Williams
Contemporary Romance published by Mills and Boon Modern 1 Nov 12
While this book doesn’t break any new ground, it presents two likeable characters and their journey into love, which is what the Presents line is, or should be, all about. What makes it enjoyable isn’t the situation, but the characters. Everything is concentrated on them; the secondary characters, as is becoming usual in this line, being talked about but not present.
REVIEW: A Real Cowboy by Sarah M. Anderson

A Real Cowboy by Sarah M. Anderson
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Desire

Yes, it’s true – southern California really is a different place. I’ve lived in the area for what is coming up on a decade and to this day I can’t watch the local TV news because I start dropping too many IQ points. The cult of celebrity can pretty much be found all over the world, but it’s not quite as manic (and annoying) as it is where I currently hang my hat. And ultimately that’s my issue with Sarah M. Anderson’s latest Desire. The main couple is nice enough, and the story is mostly okay, but the Hollywood backstory never felt right.
REVIEW: Captive in the Spotlight by Annie West
LynneC’s review of Captive in the Spotlight by Annie West
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Presents 19 Feb 13
Sometimes Annie West takes the waif motif too far and her heroines are complete pushovers who you just know will end up barefoot and pregnant by the end of the story. And happy to be so. Since that’s not my idea of a happy ending, they don’t really work for me, but West writes really well, and she can often carry me right through a story until the heroine swoons into the hero’s arms at the end of the story. This one didn’t quite fall into that category, and I did enjoy it because of the heroine’s ability to fight back.
REVIEW: Possessed By Desire by Elisabeth Naughton
Veena’s review of Possessed by Desire (Firebrand Series) by Elisabeth Naughton
Paranormal/Fantasy Romance published by Amazon Digital Services, Inc. 21 Jan 13
I’m a fan of this author’s Eternal Guardian series, but this new series is definitely not in the same class. However, it’s a quick, light read, though I have to say this concluding book is the weakest of the three.
A firebrand opal necklace, when placed around the neck of a human, summons a love slave to provide the wearer with untold ecstasy. In reality, these firebrand opals are being used by an evil sorceress to steal the soul of the summoner, using slaves who have been trained it the sexual arts. This series is about three djinn princes, brothers who have been imprisoned by the sorceress and forced to do her bidding, and how they each find love and freedom in a classic battle of good over evil.
EXCERPT: The Tycoon by Anna Jeffrey
It’s been a while since I’ve read a sexy tycoon hero, and Drake Lockhart fills that bill perfectly. He’s successful, honest, loves his family, and knows his own heart when he meets the love of his life. He may have a few things trip him up here and there, just like all of us when it comes to life, but in the end he does the right thing. And he sits a horse quite nicely, which my cowboy heart loves.
Shannon has been through the wringer, hasn’t had it easy in life like the wealthy Lockhart family. It takes her a bit to accept the fact that Drake wants her. Just sex with him is first-rate, but she can’t keep her heart from from flinging itself at him.
Even when trust issues come between them, they still have something worth fighting for.
Summary:
When wealthy Texas ranching scion and business tycoon, DRAKE LOCKHART, encounters stunning SHANNON PIPER at a fancy ball, the last thing he expects is a tryst he can’t forget with a woman who disappears in the middle of the night. Once he finds her, he recognizes his bachelor days are over, but she isn’t ready. She doesn’t trust him. She wants to restrict their relationship to “just sex.” Surmounting the barriers she erects isn’t easy, especially when without his knowledge, an associate in his powerful company yanks a coveted real estate buy out from under her. He loves her and she loves him, but how will he ever restore her faith in him?
GUEST BLOG & CONTEST: Sons of Texas by Anna Jeffrey
Coming up with a few words for a blog has always been hard for me, as evidenced by my erratic posts on my own blog. I think of a topic to write about, but then I think, “Oh, no one will be interested in this.” And I abandon it. Or I think, “Uh-oh, if I write about this, some group will be offended.” So I hand-wring and try to figure out what to say.
Since this is a blog about reading, the topic I’ll choose is my latest book, The Tycoon.

Contemporary Western Romance published by CreateSpace 16 Feb 13
It’s always the little things in life that end up knocking us for a loop. In this case, for Shannon Piper, a real estate agent who has worked her tail off to make her small-town business a success, it’s a five-acre parcel of land that sits smack dab in the middle of other acreage she owns. That little plot is the difference between the big time and small potatoes for her. Drake Lockhart looks at it a bit differently.
REVIEW: One Good Earl Deserves a Lover: The Second Rule of Scoundrels by Sarah MacLean
Veena’s review of One Good Earl Deserves a Lover: The Second Rule of Scoundrels (Rules for Scoundrels, Book 2) by Sarah MacLean
Historical Romance published by Avon 29 Jan 13
“They do say reformed rakes make the best husbands.” Not sure who these mysterious “they” are referenced by this popular quote, but Sarah Maclean suddenly holds to the adage in her Rules for Scoundrels series by creating the most loveable set of scoundrels yet. First it was Lady Penelope Marbury who breached the sanctity of the Fallen Angel to capture her very own scoundrel, who has reformed into the most perfect husband. Now it’s her sister Phillipa’s turn to breach the sanctity of the gaming hells to look for an unlikely research assistant in the form of Cross to help her research marriage and the pleasures of the marriage bed. Of course, the interesting twist to this familar plot is that Pippa is engaged to be married in 2 weeks and the groom is not Cross. read more…
