REVIEW: Uncommon Pleasure by Anne Calhoun
Sandy M’s review of Uncommon Pleasure by Anne Calhoun
Contemporary Erotic Romance published by Berkley Trade 5 Mar 13
I like this idea of two stories in one book with interacting characters. The stories themselves aren’t related, just the main characters switching over from H/h to secondary characters as they go about their lives. The trick is making both work.
REVIEW: Saved by the Rancher by Jennifer Ryan
Dinca’s review of Saved by the Rancher (The Hunted Series, Book 1) by Jennifer Ryan
Contemporary Romance published by Avon Impulse 26 Mar 13
I was enthralled by the story line in this book from page one. If ever there is a villain you love to hate, he is captured here in the character of David, the ex-husband, a self-serving pathetic excuse of a man not worthy of being classified as a human being. All the characters are very well developed and believable, from their thoughts to their actions. Ms. Ryan knows how to write a sex scene with romance. These characters are very captivating and loving with nothing trashy about them.

REVIEW: Perfect Timing by Catherine Anderson
Sandy M’s review of Perfect Timing (Harringon/Kendrick/Coulter Series, Book 11) by Catherine Anderson
Contemporary Time Travel Romance published by Signet 26 Feb 13
I’ve read only the first two books in this series, and that was years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed them and have lamented the fact that I didn’t push on and catch up with the series at that time. Now I’m way behind, of course. I still remember a bit about those first two books, especially Phantom Waltz. This book, Perfect Timing, caught me by surprise.
REVIEW: Wild Invitation by Nalini Singh
Veena’s review of Wild Invitation, A Psy Changeling Anthology by Nalini Singh
Paranormal Romance published by Berkley 05 Mar 13
When this book was announced, I was a bit disappointed thinking that I would be buying only two short stories for the price of a full book. But I have to admit that I’m pleasantly surprised by the way the stories are packaged together as a collection, which totally enhances my experience as a reader. I had read the earlier published two short stories, but I ended up reading them again. In fact, I read the book from begining to end in order. I find that I enjoyed the spectrum of the races: human, Psy, Changeling leopards and wolves and their natures dominant, submissive, and how the two blend, and, of course, the spectrum of emotions even for those who aren’t supposed to have any. I feel that this collection adds richness and depth to the world that I’m familiar with. I am so glad that I read it and would encourage other fans to definitely read it as one whole book.

REVIEW: A Scandal, A Secret, A Baby by Sharon Kendrick
LynneC’s review of A Scandal, A Secret, A Baby by Sharon Kendrick

I let myself get drawn back in, didn’t I? I should have known better. The first book in the series didn’t work for me, so why should the second?
REVIEW: The Seal’s Stolen Child by Laura Marie Altom
Dinca’s review of The Seal’s Stolen Child by Laura Marie Altom
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin American Romance 27 Nov 12
I usually hand the author a lot of credit because they complete a work of art regardless of how I might feel about it. This time I am just not finding many positive things to say. I did not discover any typos. That’s one positive. It’s a Harlequin, and it is classified as a romance. I do not see it or feel it. I am surprised I finished it.
REVIEW: Written in Red by Anne Bishop
Veena’s review of Written in Red (Courtyards of the Others, Book 1) by Anne Bishop
Paranormal Romance published by Roc Hardcover 05 Mar 13
Arroo to all Anne Bishop fans. In a refreshingly different characterization, the Others, or terra indigenes, rule this brave, new world and humans like you and me live on their sufferance in pockets of civilization where interaction between the two kinds of species is limited and managed through courtyards ruled by an Other leader. Written in Red is the story of such a place called the Lakeside courtyard, where a single act of kindness in giving shelter to a bedraggled, cold, shivering, young woman brings about a sweeping change in building friendly relations between humans and Others.

REVIEW: The Secret Wedding Dress by Ally Blake
LynneC’s review of The Secret Wedding Dress by Ally Blake
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Kiss 19 Mar 13
Ally Blake is a new-to-me author, but this won’t be the last book of hers that I read. Her voice is fresh and genuinely young without trying to hard or using achingly trendy slang, and her characters behave in a way that feels natural. They’re likeable people who make mistakes, or there wouldn’t be a book. Although it’s in the main Mills and Boon Modern Romance line in the UK, the US has it in the Kiss line, which fits this book better.
REVIEW: Highlander Most Wanted by Maya Banks
Veena’s review of Highlander Most Wanted (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, Book 2) by Maya Banks
Historical Romance published by Ballantine Books 19 Mar 13
Many of my fellow ducks in The Pond don’t like these historicals because they feel that these are set in a period in history when Scotland was riddled with clan feuds and wars and betrayal was common and yet the dialog between the protagonists is almost contemporary in nature and not true to the period. I, on the other hand, have enjoyed this series for probably that very reason. I think this series is a light read with sweet love stories and a strong theme of family and particularly the care and affection that these strong men have for the women in their family, be they mothers or sisters or sisters-in-law.
