Sandy M’s review of On Loverose Lane (Return to Dublin Street, Book 1) by Samantha Young
Contemporary Romance published by Amazon Digital Services 20 Feb 25
It’s no secret Samantha Young is an absolute favorite of mine. I’ve loved every book I’ve read. I wish I had more under my belt, especially the On Dublin Street series. I’ve not kept up with that, having read only the first book. But that defintely made this story that much more enjoyable as we get to know Braden and Joss’ daughter in this new series.
Beth is a perfect combination of her parents – strong, independent, loyal, along with sensual and sexy. She’s got a lot on her plate, trying to grow her business. So who needs the extra frustration of the past moving in upstairs and throwing her for a loop? Callen is Scotland’s No. 1 footballer and ends up a pain in Beth’s rear and she’s the same for him. But when she’s in a fix and needs help, it’s Callen she goes to.
They come up with a six-week plan to have a hot and steamy fling while also helping Beth through needs for her business. Needless to say, this is what they both require to relieve stress and eventually get very tangled up in each other’s lives. And what a ride that is. Aside from all the sexual goings-on, their banter is first class. I enjoyed the laughter they caused along the way. It’s been a while since I’ve truly chuckled like that while reading.
It’s nice getting to meet up with the On Dublin Street folks again, some new to me since I haven’t gotten that deep into the series. Family is another element Ms. Young does so very well. That being said, there’s a couple of times I felt lost with all the reintroductions coming in fast and furious, but it’s short-lived. I keep telling myself I’m going to read Book 2 in the first series before the next in this one releases. Here’s hoping I can keep to that promise.
But if not, this second generation is worth the read anyway. All the emotion and fun are just waiting for you. So don’t miss out!
Summary:
It’s always the broody ones you have to watch out for….
Imagine my surprise when my new neighbor turns out to be Callan Keen, one of Scotland’s most famous (and hottest) professional footballers. I’m even more shocked to discover that the brooding player is still holding a grudge for something that happened between us years ago.
But I can’t focus on him or his issues with me because I’m too busy trying to take my company to the next level. I don’t have time for this blast from the past, even if the grump upstairs is still the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid eyes on.
When a huge client opportunity arises, I’m forced to ask Callan for help. I need a fake date and he needs an introduction with my real estate mogul dad. The deal between us should be simple. Except for the blazing chemistry we’ve shared since the moment we met. We can’t deny it, we can’t control it, and soon we’re agreeing to a six week, no-strings-attached, mind-blowing affair.
I told myself I wouldn’t catch feelings for Callan, but the closer we get, the more he reminds me of the guy I once fell for. It just might prove impossible to show my stubborn Scotsman we’re worth the risk, especially when the past continues to haunt us and threaten to wreck any chance of a future together…
