Kaitlyn‘s review of Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, Book 1) by Kerri Maniscalco & James Patterson
Historical Young Adult Murder Mystery published by Little Brown Books for Young Readers 20 Sep 16
There’s a serial killer on the loose in 1800s London, butchering women and stealing their organs. It’s up to amateur forensic anatomist Audrey Rose to solve the case.
This is such a fun book. I have a Masters in anatomy and love teaching gross anatomy. A medical school gross anatomy professor is probably the career route I’ll end up taking, so this book is right up my alley. I love it. The vibes are immaculate. I love the anatomy history thrown in and the spin on Jack the Ripper. This is such an interesting murder mystery that I couldn’t put down.
Thomas is a charming little Sherlock Holmes, and I can’t wait to see more of him and Audrey Rose together. Suffice to say, I’ll be binging the rest of this series very quickly! Book 2 is set in Romania with a Dracula copycat murderer, I can’t wait! 😋
Summary:
Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life. Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine.
When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her back to her own sheltered world. The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling, #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.
