Dinca’s review of Connor (Farraday Country, Book 3) by Chris Keniston
Contemporary Romance published by Indie House Publishing 24 Oct 16
I am really enjoying this series. Chris Keniston has some of the best one-liners ever. So far one has shown up in every book in this series. This fast-moving story is about a long-time dream disappearing into a new-found, unexpected love and greater dreams to come.
Connor’s dream of a horse breeding stable is so close to coming true when his neighbor has agreed to the sale of his ranch, which is next door to the Farraday spread. Conner leaves his job in the dangerous oil fields and returns home to set the next part of his life in motion. Before the transfer of the title, Mr. Brennan passes away and everything comes to a screeching halt.
Mr. Brennen’s estranged granddaughter, Catherine, returns to the ranch she last visited as a child, bringing along her daughter, who is approximately the same age she was when last on the ranch. After the car accident that took her husband and left her daughter silent from PTSD, Catherine worried that changing locations, even for a little while, might set her back further than ever. Little Stacy discovers a matchmaking dog and chases it, and Catherine and Connor come together rescuing her. Even with Catherine’s fear of horses, Stacy really starts to come alive when she’s with the horses on the Farraday ranch. With this new development in mind, Catherine starts thinking about keeping the main house on the ranch as a summer home and selling off some of the land.
Connor is reluctant to mention his wanting to purchase the ranch and there never seems to be the right time to bring it up. He is really enjoying watching Stacy with the horses and notices she starts humming while grooming them. The more she interacts with them, the more relaxed and outgoing she becomes.
Catherine and Connor butt heads a lot over her daughter but come together in her best interests. It’s another riveting story of love, loss, and dreams all evolving around strong, well-developed characters. This seems to be Ms. Keniston’s forte`.
I look forward to her next book in the Farraday series.
