Welcome to the Pond
We got fun and games, we got everything you want, honey now tell us your name
uh well not really but close ๐
So tell us – who are you? What cha like to read? Are you a romance only peep? Do you remember who Maili is? What was your first romance? What is your favorite subgenre? Like Vamps? Ever read a gothic? Would you touch Steele? Or you know whatever….. you wanna tell us!
Or if you have an intro done on your blog link us babee.
Maili tossed me off her blog until I got one of my own. That’s right, you can thank her and I miss her.
I’ll read outside of romance but I have to know going in that it’s not a romance so I don’t start looking for the H/H and how they are going to get together. Not into bios or true stories and hell no to anything Oprah has ever said to read.
Let’s see, won’t read YA because some of them have romance and well, I like sex in my books and the idea of sex and teens makes me feel yuck. So no thanks. And really, I read that stuff when I was a teen so I’m all good.
Don’t plan on ever reading Steele, Nicholas Sparks, Judith Ivory.
Thinking on it I’m more open to reading anything although secret babies still stick in the craw. And I don’t get the fascination with ghosts or witches. I love vampires and took a while to warm up to were-animals because it crossed some line in my head. Now I’m in.
I *think* I’m burned out on historicals. I’m currently coming out of a brutal slump that started way before I thought it did and am considering doing a 10 part series on the ‘whys and whatnots of a once avid reader’s slump’. Yep, someone is going to be blamed!!
I’m into paranormals because huh, I want to say ‘moral’ boundaries can be crossed but I’m not sure it’s just moral boundaries.
I love, love, love dark angsty heroes and the everyday women they fall for. Longest running Auto-buy author is Anne Stuart and Nalini Singh was the lastest addition and has been blowing my mind ever since. (you have any recs feel free to drop ’em on me)
And oddly I haven’t really tried romantica or erotica. Okay, I must have but I have found there are more games played in romantica and that’s not what I’m reading romance for. I want sex in my books and I want all kinds of sex in my books but I need the angst ๐
Okay, you did say we could talk about ourselves right? ๐
CindyS (Nocturnal Wonderings)
I’ve posted here a few times but I mostly lurk.
Anyway I’ve been reading Paranormal a lot but I’m getting burned out on it, and have taken an interest in urban fantasy- Kim Harrison, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Charlaine Harris, Karen Chance (who all have romantic elements in their stories) and sometimes fantasy novels. I read the occasional erotica. And I will always have a spot for YA novels, in fact love them Tamora Pierce, Holly Black, Garth Nix, Tiffany Trent, JK Rowling, Gail Carson Levine to name a few.
One thing I can not stand in any novel is character hopping with a bunch of different POV. Drives me bonkers. Love reading in first person as long as its not romance that is.
With you on the Oprah recommendation. Read one my mom had picked up for me, hated it… White Oleander (I think), the moms a loony, the daughter infatuated with a much older man whom she let touch her. Yucky, left a bad felling linger with me, disturbing
Basically I am a shy person, likes to read, stopped going to the bookstore I made weekly visits too because they misshelf and screw up their releases. Hate being singled out, listened to a lot cracks about the romances I read as a teen, lol.
I like novels where their not quite human… actually that’s starting to weird me out over some of the stuff that pulled me in, novel wise. I guess I’m looking for something different. And everything’s Vampires, Demons, werewolf, oh my. Hate romances involving witches, and “I’m so uber hot all the guys want to boink me and I’m TSTL plus a total beyotch,” books along with, “oh I’m so average/ plain but every man wants to do me.”
My sisters reads romances too but mostly my younger sister who is currently doing basic training- Army and Grad. this Friday. ๐ (Had to throw that in, she made it through the hard part.) Though now I have no one to discuss books with and listen to me rant and rave about what I didn’t like. My friend who said she reads romances reads Nickolas Sparks so she really doesn’t count.
Hmm, actually I’m a big Flake, I can say something or write something and days later change my opinion once I thought it over. I despise committing to things-feels like I’m in a trap and I start resenting it.
Ok, I’ll stop now everything is probably jumbled around, and more than anyone wanted to know about me. LOL. And this is probably full of mistakes another thing I do.
