Sandy M’s review of Heart-Shaped Hack by Tracey Garvis-Graves
Contemporary Romance published by Amazon Digital Services 25 Aug 15

I try to never miss a Tracey Garvis-Graves book. I know her story and her characters will draw me in every time. She’ll keep me guessing at what’s happening next and she will entertain me from one end of the emotional spectrum to the other. If you’ve not read any of her books, you need to start now. I can guarantee you will be a fan by the time you finish the last page of whichever one you choose.

Kate has left her corporate legal career behind to open a nonprofit food pantry to help those in need. With winter approaching, she does a TV spot requesting assistance so she can spread more holiday cheer to families in Minneapolis. Soon after, a couple of very generous and anonymous donations are left, giving her what she needs to get through. Once she meets the mysterious donor, Ian, she’s grateful but she’s also not thrilled with the man himself. Kate is a true independent woman doing what makes her happy. A man isn’t needed for that.

You see, Ian is a hacker, literally a modern-day Robin Hood, and that doesn’t sit well with Kate. Especially because, along with a lot of legalities, he won’t share any information about himself as they begin to know one another, because he won’t take no for an answer when she first refuses to spend time with him. But little by little the true Ian emerges, and he gives to Kate more than he’s ever shared with anyone. Ian is as charming as the day is long, and you can’t help but fall in love with him along with Kate.

Their chemistry is there from the start, even if it’s not positive from Kate’s perspective until later. You see it in their banter, which will have you laughing, and in their loving, which is romantic and alive. The mystery revolving around Ian keeps you in the dark for quite a while, culminating in a heart-wrenching resolution that will leave you at least misty-eyed, if not in tears. A lot happens in this book and I’m being intentionally vague in this review. This is one of those stories you need to experience, go through every emotion with the characters.

Tracy Garvis-Graves never disappoints, always entertains, and leaves the reader wanting more. You need to get your own Garvis-Graves experience today.

Summary:

When Kate Watts abandoned her law career to open a food pantry in Northeast Minneapolis, she never dreamed it would be this difficult. Facing the heartbreaking prospect of turning hungry people away, she is grateful for the anonymous donations that begin appearing at the end of each month. Determined to identify and thank her secret benefactor, she launches a plan and catches Ian —a charismatic hacker with a Robin Hood complex—in the act.

Ian intrigues Kate in a way no man ever has. But after learning he’s snooped around on her personal computer, she demands retribution. Impressed with her tolerance and captivated by her spirit, he complies and begins to slowly charm his way past her defenses. Time spent with Ian is never boring, and Kate soon finds herself falling for the mysterious hacker.

But Ian has enemies and they’re growing restless. In the hacking world, exploiting a target’s weakness is paramount, and no price is too high to stop an attack. And when Kate learns exactly how much Ian has paid, she’ll discover just how strong her love is for the man who has hacked his way into her heart.
